Matte vs glossy stickers

Same vinyl, same laminate, same lifespan. Glossy deepens color and photographs bright; matte kills glare and reads calmer. This is a look, not a level of quality.

What does not change

Both finishes are the same laminate over the same printed vinyl. They resist the same scratches, block the same UV and keep water off the ink for the same number of years. Nobody should choose a finish hoping for a longer life out of it.

What does change

Gloss reflects, and reflection does two things at once: it makes color look deeper, and it puts a bright highlight wherever a lamp or a flash hits. On a photo-style design or a logo built from strong color, that is exactly what you want.

Matte scatters light instead. Nothing shines back, so fine type stays readable at an angle and a design with a lot of white or pale grey does not wash out under a shop light.

Choose by where it will be seen

Behind glass, under retail lighting, or anywhere it will be photographed for a listing — matte, because glare is the thing that ruins those shots.

On a laptop, a bottle, a helmet, or as merch meant to be noticed — glossy, because depth of color is what carries at a distance.

On a product label read at arm's length, matte usually reads better; on a label that has to compete on a crowded shelf, glossy does.

Questions people ask

Is matte or glossy more durable?
Neither. Both use the same vinyl and the same laminate, so they last exactly as long — outdoors and through a dishwasher.
Which finish is better for photos of my product?
Matte. It has no highlight to blow out under a flash or a softbox, so the design photographs evenly.
Can I get some of each in one order?
Finish is chosen per order, so a mixed run means two orders. Both start with a free proof, so nothing is committed until you approve it.
