How to get it right
A few seconds from the aisle
The poster behind the booth is read from six to ten feet away, by people who have not decided to stop. That leaves room for the company name, what you do in a phrase, and one image. The product details belong on the table and the handouts, not on the wall.
Sizes for a booth
24x36 suits a tabletop easel or a pop-up wall; 36x48 fills the back of a small booth. For conference poster sessions, where the size is set by the organizer, see our research poster page. Whichever size, send a vector PDF so the type stays sharp from the aisle.
Getting it to the show
Posters ship rolled in a sturdy tube, the easiest way to carry them into a convention center. Production is two business days after proof approval and shipping takes 3-5 business days, so order ten days before the show. Posters are indoor paper - right for a convention hall, not for an outdoor stand.
A poster is not a banner stand
A booth poster on semi-gloss paper is built for an easel, a pop-up frame insert or a wall behind a table - it is not a stretched banner and is not meant to stand alone or go outdoors. If the booth setup needs a freestanding backdrop or a retractable banner stand, that is a different product from a sign shop; what we print is the paper insert that goes inside a frame you already own or rent from the show. Knowing which one your booth actually needs before ordering saves a reprint the week of the show, when there is no longer time to source the right material.
Packing the tube for the show
A mailing tube can travel as checked or carry-on luggage on many airlines, but check that airline's size rules before the trip rather than at the gate - policies vary and a tube that does not fit the sizer becomes a problem with the plane already boarding. Unroll it the night before setup and lay it flat under something heavy; the paper relaxes overnight and sits flat in the frame instead of curling at the corners during the show.
Questions people ask about these
What size poster for a trade show booth?
24x36 for an easel or a tabletop display; 36x48 for the back wall of a small booth.
Can I order a single test print?
Yes - one poster per design is a normal order, a good way to check colors before a run.
Do you mount booth posters on board?
No - we print on semi-gloss poster paper and ship it rolled. Mounting is done separately if you want it.
How far ahead should I order?
About ten days before the show: two business days in production and 3-5 business days in shipping.
Can I use it at an outdoor event?
It is indoor paper. For an outdoor stand, use a weatherproof material.
Is this the same as a vinyl trade show banner?
No - this is a paper poster made for an easel or a pop-up frame insert, not a freestanding banner. For a banner stand or an outdoor backdrop, a sign shop's product is the right fit instead.
Can I bring the poster tube on a plane?
Many airlines accept a mailing tube as checked or carry-on luggage, but check that airline's exact size limits before you travel rather than at the gate - policies vary by carrier, and a tube that does not fit the gate's sizer becomes a last-minute problem.
