Custom static cling window decals: eight printers compared
Most window clings go on the inside of the glass and have to read from the street, so the first thing to check is whether the printer has a setting for it. StickersFox, StickerYou, BannerBuzz, Signazon and Signs.com all offer it as a setting, and all five take an order of one. Choose Signs.com for a cling larger than four feet - it states sizes up to 300 inches - or Signazon or BannerBuzz for an odd custom size, and StickersFox when you want mirror printing as the default, a proof that shows where the white ink goes and free shipping on a single cling.
| Company | Print for the inside of the glass | Film | Minimum | Sizes | US shipping |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| StickersFox | Yes - Mirror is the default setting | Clear, with white ink under the design where it is needed | 1 | 4 to 48 inches on the longer side, in set sizes | Free on every order |
| StickerYou | Yes - "Adhesive on Front"; the artwork is flipped for you | Clear or white | 1 | 0.75 to 24 inches; larger by quote | Paid; no free tier listed |
| BannerBuzz | Yes on clear film - "Inside the Glass" | Clear or opaque white | 1 | Three presets plus custom sizes | Free on orders over $99 |
| Signazon | Yes - "Inside Glass" | Clear or white | 1 | Three presets plus custom sizes | A free saver tier is listed; the site header says free over $100 |
| Signs.com | Yes - "Inside Glass", printed in reverse | Clear or opaque white | 1 | 3 to 300 inches | Free ground on orders over $99 |
| Vistaprint | Listed as a feature; the cling order form has no setting for it | Clear or white | 1 | 5 to 36 inches per side (its FAQ says up to 36 x 48) | Free economy shipping on orders of $100 or more |
| Custom Static Cling | Yes - a separate "Interior-Read Cling" product | Clear, white, frosted or one-way | 12 | Any custom size, by quote | Quoted per order |
| Sticker Mule | No setting; printed on one side of white film | White | 10 | Up to 25 inches | Free |

Inside the glass is the question that matters
A cling on the outside of a shop window meets rain, sun and fingers. The same cling on the inside meets none of them, which is why storefront clings are printed mirrored: the printed face presses against the glass and the design reads the right way round from the sidewalk.
Five printers in the table make that a setting you choose - the names differ ("Mirror", "Inside Glass", "Adhesive on Front"), and each is the setting for a cling that goes inside the window and reads from outside. At StickersFox it is the setting the page opens on; switch to Normal for mirrors and indoor signs.
Clear film, white film and white ink
Clear film leaves the glass visible around the design; white film gives a solid sign-like rectangle or shape. On clear film the colors need white ink behind them or they turn translucent against a dark interior.
StickerYou, Signazon, Signs.com and BannerBuzz print white ink on clear cling, and BannerBuzz lets you choose between none and a full layer. We print on clear film and lay white under the design where it needs it; the free proof shows exactly where, before anything is printed. Sticker Mule prints on white film only, so there is nothing to see through.
How many, and how big
One cling is a normal order - a set of business hours, a holiday greeting, one logo for the door - and six of the eight printers here accept it. Custom Static Cling starts at twelve and Sticker Mule at ten.
Size is where the sign companies pull ahead. Signs.com prints up to 300 inches and Signazon and BannerBuzz take custom dimensions; StickerYou stops at 24 inches online and Sticker Mule at 25. Our clings run from 4 to 48 inches on the longer side in set steps, cut to a square, circle, rectangle or the outline of your design - enough for a door or a window pane, not for a whole glass wall.
Not every "window cling" is a static cling
Static cling holds by static alone: no adhesive, no residue, and it can be peeled and put back. Some products sold under the same name are low-tack adhesive vinyl - Decals.com describes its window clings that way. That is a different material: it has an adhesive, even if a light one.
StickerGiant, MakeStickers and CustomStickers.com do not list a static cling product at all. If the word that matters to you is "no adhesive", look for it on the product page before you order.
Proof, production and shipping
Signs.com ships a cling the next business day when you order by its evening cut-off, and the BannerBuzz FAQ, written about banners, gives 12 to 24 hours of work after artwork approval. Signazon shows a free online proof and sells four delivery speeds, from next business day to a six-to-seven-day saver tier.
StickersFox sends a free proof made by a designer, ships clings two business days after you approve it, and ships free whatever the order size. For one cling, that last part is the difference: Signs.com and BannerBuzz start free shipping at $99, Vistaprint and the Signazon header at $100, and StickerYou lists no free tier.

Questions people ask
- Which companies print static clings for the inside of a window?
- StickersFox, StickerYou, BannerBuzz, Signazon and Signs.com offer it as a setting in the order form. Custom Static Cling sells it as a separate product with a minimum of twelve. Sticker Mule has no such setting.
- Can I order just one static cling?
- Yes at StickersFox, StickerYou, BannerBuzz, Signazon, Signs.com and Vistaprint. Sticker Mule starts at ten and Custom Static Cling at twelve.
- Do I have to mirror my artwork myself?
- No. Send the design the normal way round. At StickersFox the Mirror setting takes care of it; StickerYou and Custom Static Cling also state that they flip it for you.
- What is the biggest static cling I can order online?
- Signs.com states a maximum of 300 inches. Signazon and BannerBuzz accept custom sizes without a stated limit. StickersFox goes to 48 inches on the longer side, Vistaprint to 36 by 48 according to its FAQ, Sticker Mule to 25 and StickerYou to 24.
- Will a static cling work outdoors?
- It is made for the inside of the glass. Outside, use it only on glass that is sheltered from rain and wind. For an exposed window or a vehicle body, an adhesive vinyl decal is the right product.
- How is a static cling different from a window decal?
- A cling has no adhesive and can be moved or reused; a decal has adhesive and stays where you put it. Our guide to static cling and adhesive vinyl covers the choice in detail.
