How to get it right
One design for each exhibit or season
A museum store changes with the calendar: a new dinosaur hall, a spring garden show, a holiday exhibit, the anniversary of the building. Each can be its own sticker. Order each design as its own line in the cart, with its own quantity and its own free proof, so a popular design can be reordered while a seasonal one is simply allowed to run out. Every sticker in a run prints the same, which fits a design that stands for one exhibit. Historical societies, science centers and children's museums work the same way.
In the store, in the mail, in the group visit
The register is only one place for a sticker. A single design tucked into a renewal letter or a new-member mailing makes the envelope a little more welcome. A school group can leave with a take-home sticker as a reminder of the visit, and a special-event table can hand them out to guests. The die cut follows any outline at the same cost as a circle, so a skull, a leaf or a steam engine keeps its true shape. Larger quantities lower the cost per sticker, which helps for mailings.
Use only artwork you hold the rights to
Your museum's own logo and the designs your staff draw are yours to print. Artwork from the collection, a loaned exhibit or a donor is different: print it only if the museum holds the rights, because official marks and works belong to their owners. We print the file you send, and the designer prepares the cut line for your approval. Keep the picture bold, with two or three colors and a short name. The free proof shows the cut line before anything prints, changes are free, and you pay only when you approve.
Questions people ask about these
What size sticker works for a museum gift shop?
Three inches is a good all-round size for a laptop, a notebook or a bottle, and the calculator on this page opens at 3 x 3 inches. Any custom size from 1 x 2 inches up to 48 x 80 inches is available.
Can each exhibit have its own sticker?
Yes. Each design is its own line in the cart, with its own quantity and its own free proof. A dinosaur hall and a garden show are two lines.
Can we put one in every new member mailing?
Yes. Order one design in the quantity you need as its own line. Larger quantities lower the cost per sticker.
Can we print artwork from our collection?
Only if the museum holds the rights to it. Print artwork you own or have the rights to. Official marks and collection works belong to their owners. We print the file you send.
Are the stickers waterproof enough for a bottle?
Yes. They are printed on white vinyl under a laminate, waterproof and made for outdoor use. The adhesive is permanent, so choose the spot before you peel.
How quickly can a new exhibit design be ready?
Orders ship the next business day after you approve the proof, with free USPS shipping across the US. For most files the proof appears on screen in seconds; otherwise a designer emails it, usually within one business day.
