How to get it right
Words that work as stickers
Small shops order lines for the box: thank you, handle with care, open me first, made with love, a website or a handle. Teams and clubs order a motto. People order a name, a quote, a word for a water bottle or a car window. Whatever it says, a text sticker has one job - to be read in a second - so pick one idea per sticker rather than a paragraph.
Letter size and fonts
On a 4 x 2 sticker, keep the smallest letters at least a quarter of an inch tall and choose a font with clear, solid strokes. Very thin scripts and hairline serifs lose detail at small sizes. Bold sans-serif and rounded fonts stay readable from farther away. If the phrase is long, go wider rather than smaller: a 6 x 2 rectangle carries twice the words of a 3 x 2 at the same letter height.
Cut around the words, or a shape behind them
Cut to outline traces the whole phrase as one piece, with a thin white border that holds connected and separate letters together. A rectangle, oval or rounded shape puts the words on a background color, which reads better on busy surfaces. Either way it is one printed sticker. Separate letters with nothing around them, applied with transfer tape, are cut-vinyl lettering - a different product that we do not make.
Questions people ask about these
Can I just type my words instead of uploading a file?
We print from a file. Set the text in any design app, export a PNG or PDF at the final size, and upload it; the proof shows the cut line before anything prints.
What font size is readable on a sticker?
Keep the smallest letters at least about a quarter inch tall on a small sticker, and larger if it will be read from a distance, like on a car.
Will each letter be cut out separately?
No. The cut follows the outline of the whole phrase as one sticker, with a thin border. Separate cut letters are a different product.
Can I order several different phrases?
Yes. Each phrase is its own design and its own line in the cart, with its own proof and quantity.
Are text stickers waterproof?
Yes. They are laminated vinyl, waterproof and dishwasher safe, with a permanent adhesive.
