How to get it right
Three ways to order, and where to send the list
Pick a layout from the fifteen below and send the names, the date and the guest list, table by table or in alphabetical order. Or upload finished artwork and we print it the way you made it. Or send only the names, the date and the list, and our designer sets the whole chart for you. Under Design at the top of the page, tap Design it for me and then the layout number, and type the couple's names and the date in the box under it, exactly as they should read. Upload the guest list the way you keep it - a Word or Excel file, a PDF or a photo of a handwritten list - or order without a file and send it through the link we email after the order.
Read every surname on the proof
A seating chart carries a hundred names, and the proof is the one moment to catch a wrong letter in any of them. Read it with the guest list open beside it, one table at a time, and check the surnames as carefully as the first names - a doubled letter or a swapped vowel slips past at a glance and is the first thing the guest notices at the door. Send corrections back until it is right; nothing goes to print until you approve the proof, and the approval itself asks you to tick "I have checked every name, date and spelling". The proof shows the chart at its real proportions, so it is also the moment to see whether the longest table still reads.
Size, color and timing
A chart of sixty to a hundred and twenty names needs room to be read at standing distance, which in practice means 36" x 48"; six short tables fit on 24" x 30" or 24" x 36". A full-length mirror takes a tall 24" x 60" or 36" x 60", and the chart can be a rectangle, a square, an oval (Circle in the Shape row) or an arch (Die cut, which follows the outline of an arched design). White ink is the classic look - the film reads as glass and only the lettering shows. Colored lettering, like the gold-toned names in the video on this page, prints over a layer of white so it stays solid on the mirror. Production is two business days after you approve the proof and shipping is 3-5 business days, so count back from the date, add the time the guest list takes, and leave a week of margin.
Questions people ask about these
Can you design the seating chart from my guest list?
Yes. Send the names, the date and the list, choose a layout number or leave the layout to our designer, and we set every table and every name. You get the chart as a proof first and approve it only when it is right.
How do I send the guest list - can it be a Word or Excel file?
Yes. Upload it as it is - a Word or Excel file, a CSV, a PDF or a photo of the list - or order without a file and send it through the link we email after the order. Under Design, tap Design it for me, pick the layout number and type the couple's names in the box under it.
Can I send my own design instead?
Yes. Upload finished artwork as a PNG, JPEG, PDF, AI or SVG and we print it as you made it, after a proof. Anything white in your design prints in white ink, and the rest of the film stays clear.
Will it come off a hired mirror without marking it?
Yes. There is no adhesive on the film, so it peels off in one piece and leaves nothing on the glass - no residue, no heat gun, no solvent. Stored flat between two sheets of paper and out of the sun, it keeps as a souvenir of the day.
What size does a seating chart need to be?
Sixty to a hundred and twenty names read comfortably at 36" x 48"; six short tables fit on 24" x 30" or 24" x 36". For a full-length mirror there are tall sizes up to 48" x 60". Pick a size on the row under the drawing, or type your own under Other.
How far ahead should I order?
Production is two business days after you approve the free proof and shipping takes 3-5 business days, so two weeks before the date is comfortable and one week is tight. The part that takes time is the guest list, not the print.
Can I apply it myself the night before?
Yes, and that is the normal way - the video on this page shows the whole job. Clean the mirror, mist it with plain water, place the cling while the glass is wet so it can slide into position, then smooth from the center out with a card. If it goes on crooked, lift it and place it again.
