How to get it right
Jar diameter, not jar volume, picks the size
A label on a curved jar has to stay inside the part of the curve that is effectively flat, and that is a narrower band than it looks. A standard 8 oz straight-sided jar takes a 2" circle comfortably; a 16 oz jar takes 2.5" or 3"; a small tin usually takes 1.5" or 2" on the lid. Measure across the flat face you are going to label and subtract about half an inch for margin - that number, not the ounces, is the size to order.
Front label, lid label, or both
Candles are usually labeled twice: a front label carrying the scent and the maker, and a smaller lid or base label carrying the practical text. Splitting it that way keeps the front clean and gives the small print somewhere to live. They are two designs and two runs, so plan both in one order if you want them to arrive together - both get their own proof.
Heat, moisture and what we do not claim
Two properties matter on a candle and we publish neither, so we claim neither. There is no heat rating for these labels, so keep them on the outside wall or the base rather than anywhere they meet the flame or the melt pool directly. There is no water or moisture rating either, so keep them off jars that stay damp or are handled wet. What we do publish is on this page in full: the sizes, the shapes, the roll format and the turnaround.
Questions people ask about these
What size label fits an 8 oz candle jar?
A 2" circle. Measure the flat face of your jar and take off about half an inch for margin - on a standard straight-sided 8 oz jar that lands on 2". A 16 oz jar takes 2.5" or 3".
Are candle labels heat resistant?
We do not publish a heat rating for these, so we do not claim one. Apply them to the outside wall or the base of the jar rather than anywhere that meets the flame or the melt pool, and they will be doing the job they are made for.
Are they heat resistant or water resistant?
We publish neither rating for roll labels, so we claim neither. Keep the label on the outside wall or the base, away from the flame and the melt pool, and away from anything that stays wet.
Can I get a matching lid label?
Yes, as a second design. Lids usually take 1.5" or 2" depending on the jar. Order both in the same cart and they arrive together, each with its own proof.
What shapes do candle labels come in?
Circle at 1.5", 2", 2.5", 3" and 3.5"; an oval at 3"x2"; rectangles at 4"x1.5" and 4"x2.5". Roll labels do not have a custom size option.
How quickly can I get them?
Two business days in production after proof approval, plus free US shipping taking 3-5 business days.
