How to get it right
What size fits which bag
Work from the flat front panel, not from the bag weight. A 12 oz side-gusset bag gives roughly three and a half inches of flat width before the gussets start to curve, so a 3" circle sits centered with a margin and a 3.5" circle fills it edge to edge. Smaller 6 oz and sample bags take 2" or 2.5". For a 5 lb bag the round format stops making sense and a 4"x2.5" rectangle across the front carries more information in less height.
What a roaster actually has to print
Three things compete for a 3" circle: the roastery name, the coffee itself, and the batch detail. The usual solution is to print the first two and leave space for the third - roast date and lot number written on by hand or added by a small second label. If every coffee needs its own printed label, each origin is its own design and its own run, and the price per label falls as each run gets bigger, so a house design with a changing hand-written line is usually the cheaper way to cover a rotating menu.
What we publish about the stock, and what we do not
The product page states the sizes, the shapes and the production time, and that is the whole of what we will repeat here. We publish no water, moisture or oil rating for roll labels, so we claim none: they are made for dry packaging. If a label has to live on something that gets wet, our die-cut vinyl stickers are the material built for that, and pointing you at the right product is more use than a promise we cannot stand behind.
Questions people ask about these
What size label fits a 12 oz coffee bag?
A 3" circle is the standard answer - it centers on the flat front panel of a side-gusset bag with a margin. Choose 3.5" if you want it to fill the panel, or 2.5" on a 6 oz bag.
Do these come on a roll or on sheets?
On a roll, on standard cores that fit most desktop label applicators. If you need a specific core size or want them on sheets instead, say so in the order notes and we will confirm it before printing.
Are they waterproof?
We publish no water rating for roll labels, so we will not claim one. They are made for dry packaging. For a label that meets water, condensation or a wash cycle, our die-cut vinyl stickers are the right product.
Can I print the roast date on the label?
Only as fixed artwork - every label in a run prints identically, so a date that changes per batch is either written on by hand or carried on a second small label. We do not print variable data.
What shapes are available?
Circle in 1.5", 2", 2.5", 3" and 3.5"; an oval at 3"x2"; rectangles at 4"x1.5" and 4"x2.5". Unlike our stickers, roll labels do not come in a custom size.
How long does a label order take?
Two business days in production after you approve the free proof, then free US shipping with 3-5 business days in transit.
