How to get it right
One seal design for the whole card list
A card list looks short until you count it: relatives, neighbors, teachers, the office, the friend who moved. Add those up, then add ten or fifteen more for seals that land crooked and cards you decide to send in the last week. That total is your quantity, and 150 is a comfortable start: a typical card list plus spares. Every sticker in the run is the same design, so you approve one proof and one cut line, whether the art is a wreath around your monogram, a holly border, or a plain star. Names written into the artwork turn each version into its own design with its own proof, so keep the seal general and sign the card itself. Leave the year off the design and any leftovers are ready for next December.
Fitting the seal to your flap
Flap shapes differ between envelope makers, so check yours before choosing a size. Cut a 2-inch circle from scrap paper and hold it against the flap: if it sits on the back, with the point of the flap still showing around it, you have your size. On a short flap or a slim note-card envelope, that circle may run down toward the front, and a 2"x1" rectangle, entered as a custom size, fits better. Keep the seal on the back and away from the address side. A round is the easy choice, but a die-cut can follow the outline of a wreath or a snowflake at the same cost, so the edge of the sticker becomes part of the design.
A seal that stays shut in the mail
The adhesive is permanent, so the seal is meant to stay where you press it, for the whole trip through the mail; the person opening the card slits the envelope rather than peeling the sticker back. Laminated vinyl is waterproof, so a damp mailbox will not smear the ink. Matte suits cream and kraft envelope stock, while glossy gives a bold red seal on white paper more punch; the price is the same. Close the envelope with its own glue first, then press the seal across the edge of the flap from the center outward. Approving your proof by about December 11 gets the stickers to you before Christmas with standard free shipping, but cards still need sealing and mailing, so count back from your own mailing day instead. Paid faster shipping is offered at checkout.
Questions people ask about these
What size Christmas envelope seal should I order?
A 2" circle is where this page starts and the smallest circle we make. Hold a 2-inch paper circle against your flap before you commit.
Can I get a 1.5-inch round seal?
No. The smallest circle is 2"x2". For something smaller, a 2"x1" rectangle is the option, ordered as a custom size.
Will the seal come off in the mail or when the card is opened?
The adhesive is permanent, so the seal stays put in the mail. It is not meant to be peeled off and re-stuck: the card is opened by slitting the envelope.
Can I print a different family name on each seal?
Each name is its own design with its own proof. One shared design for the whole list is simpler; write the recipient's name on the card.
Can I use a family photo instead of a wreath?
Yes, any artwork prints in full color. The free proof shows it at 2 inches, so you can judge whether fine detail holds up; a simple crop reads better than a busy group shot at this size.
Do the seals come on a sheet?
No. We do not make sticker sheets; every seal is die-cut on its own and peels from its own backing.
Will I see a proof before I pay?
Yes, for most files. Upload your design and the proof appears on screen in seconds, with the cut line, at the size and shape you chose - before you pay. If a file needs a designer's eye, we email the proof instead, and changes are free until it is right. Nothing prints until you approve it.
