How to get it right
Envelope seals: the size the flap decides
A standard A7 invitation envelope has a triangular flap with roughly two and a half inches of usable width at the point where a seal sits. Two inches centers on it with a margin; three inches runs into the folded edges and buckles when the envelope is handled. If the invitation goes in an oversized or square envelope, step up to 3" and let the seal be part of the design rather than a closure.
Clear on colored envelopes, white for a solid seal
Clear vinyl leaves everything around the monogram see-through, so it looks printed straight onto a blush or sage envelope with no visible sticker edge. White ink goes under the design by default, so gold, white and light gray inks stay opaque instead of disappearing into the paper. White vinyl is the choice when you want the seal to read as a solid white circle or badge on kraft, navy or black stock.
Favors, welcome bags and the day-of signage
The same monogram serves three jobs at three sizes and it is cheaper to plan them together than to reorder. Two inches for envelope seals and favor boxes; 3" for welcome-bag labels and water bottles in the hotel bag; 6" or a custom size for a mirror or a window at the venue, where a cling is the better material because it comes off the glass with no residue at the end of the night.
Questions people ask about these
What size sticker is right for an envelope seal?
Two inches for a standard invitation envelope. It centers on the flap with a clear margin and does not catch on the folded edges. Square or oversized envelopes take 3" comfortably.
Will the seal tear the envelope when a guest opens it?
Often, yes - the adhesive is permanent and paper is the weaker material. That is normal for envelope seals and not a problem for invitations, which are opened once. If you need something a guest lifts intact, put the sticker on a card tucked inside instead.
Can I get gold or metallic wedding stickers?
We print gold as a printed color, not as foil, so it reads as a warm yellow rather than as a reflective metal. The material that genuinely catches light is holographic vinyl, which shifts rainbow rather than looking like gold. If foil is essential to the design, we are not the right printer for that piece.
Clear or white for a colored envelope?
Clear for most colored envelopes - it removes the visible sticker edge and the design looks printed onto the paper, and the white ink printed under the design by default keeps even a pale monogram readable. White vinyl if you want the seal itself to be a solid white shape.
How far in advance should we order?
White vinyl ships the next business day after you approve the free proof, and US shipping is free with 3-5 business days in transit; clear adds a day in production. Invitations tend to be assembled in one evening, so order at least two weeks before that evening, not before the wedding.
Can we use the same design on glass at the venue?
Use a window cling for glass and mirrors rather than a sticker. It holds by static with no adhesive, which means it comes off at the end of the night leaving nothing on the venue property - something most venues care about more than you might expect.
Will I see a proof before I pay?
Yes, for most files. Upload your design and the proof appears on screen in seconds, with the cut line, at the size and shape you chose - before you pay. If a file needs a designer's eye, we email the proof instead, and changes are free until it is right. Nothing prints until you approve it.
