How to get it right
Classroom doors, windows and library glass
A clear sticker on glass lets the light and the view through, so it suits the places a school has plenty of: the narrow window in a classroom door, the glass wall of a library, a reading-corner window. A room name and a teacher's name read well on it, and a small picture, such as a book or a plant, makes the room look cared for. Keep the artwork simple with bold letters and large shapes, since thin lines lose strength on glass. Put it on the side of the glass people read it from. Each design is its own order line, so a hallway of rooms can each have a different name.
Why white ink matters on clear
Ink on transparent vinyl normally lets the surface behind it show through, which dulls colors and makes white lettering disappear. We print white ink behind the colors by default, so reds, greens and blues look bold on a laptop lid or a bottle and white letters appear on a window. Where you want the design itself to look like colored glass, ask for no white in the order notes, and the colors show see-through. Areas of the artwork with no print at all stay transparent either way, which is how a sticker can be a shape and a few words with nothing around them.
Overcoat, finish and timing
Clear Stickers use a protective overcoat rather than a laminate, with a glossy finish, and the sticker is waterproof and dishwasher-safe, so it handles a water bottle that goes through the wash. They ship 2 business days after you approve the proof, which is a little longer than white vinyl, so order a few days before the first day of school or an open house. Because a designer prepares the proof and emails it, usually within 1 business day, leave time for a round of changes. Nothing is cut or sent out before you approve. A school can order one design for the doors and another for bottles.
Questions people ask about these
Do clear stickers show white lettering?
Yes. White ink is printed behind the colors by default, so white lettering shows on clear glass and the colors stay bold.
Can the sticker be fully see-through, with no white?
Yes. Ask for no white in the order notes. The colors then print without white behind them and show the surface through them. Unprinted areas stay transparent in both cases.
Are clear stickers waterproof and dishwasher-safe?
Yes. They are transparent vinyl with a protective overcoat, and they are waterproof and dishwasher-safe.
Is the overcoat the same as a laminate?
No. Clear Stickers have a protective overcoat, not a laminate, and the finish is glossy.
How long does it take to get them?
Your order ships 2 business days after you approve the proof. A designer makes the proof and emails it, usually within 1 business day. Shipping is free across the US.
What can I put on a classroom window?
A room name, a teacher's name and a small picture work well. Keep letters bold and simple, and put the sticker on the side of the glass people read it from.
