How to get it right
Designs that let the film show through
Holographic film shows its rainbow wherever a design leaves white space, light tones or thin lines, while fully saturated colors stay relatively solid. For Christmas that suits a snowflake in white and pale blue, a star drawn with a thin outline or a silver-toned ornament, all of which flash under a tree. Deep red and green stay steady and work well for lettering and borders, so a solid red "Merry" over a light snowflake gives you a readable message and shimmer in one sticker. If you want one part shimmering and the rest solid, describe it in the order notes and the designer prepares that layout for the proof. A design filled edge to edge with dark ink hides most of the effect, so leave some of it open.
Star, snowflake and ornament outlines
Because the sticker is cut along your artwork's own outline at no extra charge, a star can be a star instead of a star printed inside a square, and the open corners are what let the film catch the light as it tilts. Bold points and thick snowflake arms hold up better than hairline tips, so simplify a delicate snowflake before you order. Size matters more here than on a plain sticker: the effect is strongest from 2 inches up, and 3 inches gives the shimmer room to move as a gift is turned in the hand. Send vector artwork for the sharpest cut, though a clear JPG, PNG or HEIC file works too, and the designer fixes the file for free.
Gift wrap, boutique counters and the shop photo
Shimmer needs moving light, and December has plenty: string lights on a tree, spotlights over a shop counter, a phone flash in an unboxing video. A holographic star on tissue paper, a kraft box or a paper bag is the finishing touch a shopper notices on the way out, and customers who film their unboxing get the effect for free. The adhesive is permanent and the vinyl is waterproof, so a parcel left on a snowy porch does not hurt the print. Production takes 2 business days after you approve the proof, then standard shipping is free at 3 to 5 business days; to be safe, approve by about December 9, or choose a faster carrier at checkout.
Questions people ask about these
Will I see the shimmer on the digital proof?
No. The rainbow shift lives in the film, so it only appears on the printed sticker under moving light. The proof confirms the size, the cut line and the layout.
What size shows the holographic effect best?
From 2" x 2" up, and 3 inches or more gives it the most room to move. Smaller stickers still print, but the shift is harder to see.
Will my red and green stay bold?
Fully saturated colors stay relatively solid; the shimmer comes through white space, light tones and thin areas. Mix both in one design for lettering that reads and a background that shines.
Can only the star be holographic while the rest is a solid color?
Describe what you want in the order notes and the designer prepares the layout. You will see the layout on the proof, though not the shimmer itself.
Can I order a star and a snowflake in the same order?
Yes. Each design is its own item with its own quantity and its own free proof, so a star, a snowflake and an ornament can go through together.
Will they hold on a gift box that sits outside in the cold?
Yes. The film is waterproof and the adhesive is permanent, made for smooth surfaces like boxes, bags and glass. Press the whole sticker down firmly when you apply it.
