How to get it right
A seal that catches the light before the box is even open
A holographic seal on a mailer flap or a box seam is one of the first things a buyer notices before the box is even open, and the rainbow shift gives it a moment a flat sticker cannot. Because the shift comes from the film itself rather than the ink, a badge or wordmark with some open space around it will show more color movement than a design filled edge to edge with solid dark ink - leave the background simple and let the mark do the work. These work on kraft, corrugated cardboard, poly mailers and paper bags with the same permanent adhesive as the rest of our stickers, and any shape cut to your artwork's own outline costs the same as a plain circle.
Circle for a seam, custom shape for a badge
A circle around 2 inches sits cleanly across a flap or a seam without wrapping around a corner, which is why this page opens there. If the sticker is meant to read as a badge - your logo, a small illustration, a seasonal mark - cutting it to that shape's own outline instead of boxing it in a circle makes it look intentional rather than like a label. Either way, keep the design a little smaller than the film size you order so there is a margin of open space at the edge; that margin is part of what lets the shift show once the light hits it. Larger pieces, 3 inches and up, make the effect easier to see across a room or in an unboxing photo.
The proof, the timeline, and what ships
The free digital proof shows your layout, size and cut line exactly, but not the rainbow shift - that only exists on the physical film once light moves across it, so a flat screen cannot reproduce it. Approve the proof and production takes about 2 business days, then free US shipping with tracking brings it to you; a faster carrier is available at checkout for a launch date or a holiday rush. If something on our end is wrong with the print, we reprint it free.
Questions people ask about these
Will the holographic effect show on the digital proof?
No. The proof shows your layout, size and cut line accurately, but the shimmer is a property of the physical film and only appears under moving light once the sticker is printed - a flat image or screen cannot show it. Approve the proof based on placement and size, not on the shine.
What size seal works for a standard mailer flap?
A 2 inch circle is the common choice - large enough for a small logo and small enough to sit on a flap or a seam without wrapping around the edge. For a bigger box or a badge-style design, 3 inches gives the rainbow shift more room to move.
Can it go directly on kraft cardboard or a poly mailer?
Yes. The waterproof vinyl and permanent adhesive are made for kraft, corrugated cardboard, poly mailers and paper bags, holding through shipping, handling and a wet doorstep. Press it down along the whole sticker rather than just the center for the best bond.
Can you cut it to our logo's shape instead of a circle?
Yes, at no extra charge. Send your logo as a vector file for the cleanest cut, or a sharp image if that is what you have, and we die-cut to the actual outline rather than boxing it into a circle or square.
How many should we order for our packaging?
That depends on your order volume, but 100 is a common starting quantity for a small shop's outgoing packages for a month or so.
Does a busy, colorful design still show the shift?
Some of it, but a design with more open space around the mark shows the rainbow shift more clearly than one filled edge to edge with solid dark ink. If the shimmer is the point, keep the background simple and let a smaller mark carry it.
