How to get it right
A curved surface that moves with you
A water bottle rarely sits still - it goes from a bag to a desk to a hand and turns constantly through the day, and each turn changes the angle between the light, the film and your eye, which is exactly what makes a holographic shift visible. That constant movement is what separates a bottle from a flat, stationary surface: the rainbow effect gets more chances to show itself over the course of a normal day than it would on something that never moves. The film itself is waterproof, so condensation from a cold bottle, a splash at the sink or a hand still damp from a workout do not affect the print or the shift underneath it. Keep the design a size that suits the curve rather than the biggest piece the bottle could hold.
Sizing for the curve, not just the bottle
A standard bottle takes a 2 inch circle without lifting at the edges, because flat film bending in two directions at once starts to tent past a certain size on a narrow curve. A wide tumbler has more forgiving geometry and can comfortably hold 3 inches. If your design is a logo or an icon rather than a circle, cutting it to its own outline works the same way as long as the piece stays a similar size - a very long, narrow shape wrapped around a tight curve is more likely to lift than a compact one. When in doubt on a new bottle style, order the smaller size first and confirm the fit before committing to a larger batch.
Applying it so the shift lasts
Clean and dry the bottle before applying - a new bottle often carries a light film from the factory that keeps the adhesive from bonding fully. Place one edge down first and roll the sticker across the curve rather than pressing the center, and give it a few hours before it gets wet or goes back in a bag. The free digital proof will show your layout, size and cut line, but not the shimmer itself, since that only appears on the physical film under moving light. Is it actually waterproof enough for a bottle that gets wet daily?
Yes. The film and adhesive are waterproof, so condensation from a cold drink, a splash at the sink or a sweaty hand during a workout do not affect the print or the shift underneath it. Give a new sticker a few hours to bond before its first soaking.
What size fits a standard water bottle without lifting?
A 2 inch circle is the safe default for most bottles and what this page opens on - flat film bent around a narrow curve starts to tent past that size. A wide tumbler has more room and can usually take 3 inches comfortably.
Will I see the rainbow shift on the proof before I order?
