An unplugged ceremony sign has one job: ask guests to put their phones away before the processional starts. Printed in white lettering on clear static cling, it turns a mirror at the ceremony entrance into that sign, in the words you choose, and lifts off in one piece when the ceremony is over. This page opens at 23 inches on the long side, a size for a mirror on an easel by the entrance.

How to get it right

Words that get phones put away

Short beats clever. Guests read this sign once, on their way to a seat, so a line they can take in at a glance does the job: "Unplugged ceremony", "Please put your phones away, we want you here with us", "Be present", or three lines of a poem. Many couples add a reason, such as the photographer needing a clear view of the aisle, because a reason is easier to accept than a rule. Send the words exactly as you want them and the designer sets them in white lettering.

Where the mirror stands

Put it where guests pass before they sit: at the entrance to the ceremony space, beside the guest book or by the table with the programs. A mirror on an easel works, and so does a large mirror leaned against a wall. Guests read as they walk, so a short message at 23 inches on the long side is easier to take in than a long poem on a small sign. Measure the glass inside the frame and leave two or three inches clear on every side.

Proof, timing and a matching set

Order it with the welcome sign and say in the wording box that they are a set, and the designer keeps the fonts and ornaments the same. A proof arrives by email before anything prints: read it word by word and approve it with the tick that says you have checked every name, date and spelling. Production is two business days after approval and free shipping takes 3-5 business days, so order it ahead of the wedding week, not in it.

Questions people ask about these

What should an unplugged ceremony sign say?

Something short that a guest can read in a few seconds, such as "Unplugged ceremony" or "Be present", with a polite reason if you like. Tell us the exact words and the designer lays them out in white lettering.

What size should an unplugged sign be?

Guests read it in passing, so go bigger rather than smaller. The page opens at 23 inches on the long side, enough for a short message on a mirror on an easel, and larger mirrors take up to 48 inches.

Can I add our names and the date?

Yes. Type them in the wording box under Design, exactly as they should appear, and the designer adds them to the sign.

Will it mark the venue's mirror?

No. There is no adhesive in it at all, so the mirror goes back to the venue exactly as it came.

Can it match our welcome sign and bar menu?

Yes. Put them in the same cart and say in the wording box that they are a set; the designer keeps the fonts and ornaments the same across the signs.

Does it have to go on a mirror?

No. Static cling holds on any smooth, clean glass and on polished acrylic, so the same sign can go on a window, a glass door or an acrylic board. It will not hold on wood or anything with a texture.
