How to get it right
One decal for every sign in the room
A wedding has more mirrors to fill than it seems. The welcome sign at the entrance, the seating chart, the bar menu, the guest book table, the unplugged ceremony sign, the thank-you at the door: each is a few lines of lettering, and each can be a decal on a mirror. Send the words for each one exactly as they should read and the designer sets them in white lettering on clear static cling. Four of these signs have their own pages here, with sizes and notes written for that sign: welcome, seating chart, guest book and signature drinks. Anything else, such as an order of events, a memorial table or a wishing well, is the same decal with other words.
Why static cling suits a mirror you do not own
Lettering vinyl with adhesive is permanent by design: taking it off needs heat, solvent and patience. That is fine on a mirror that is yours for good and wrong on one you rent, borrow from a relative or take back to a living room. A cling holds by static, with no adhesive at all. Mist the clean glass with water, lay the cling on while it is wet, slide it level and smooth it from the middle outwards with a card. At the end of the night it peels off in one piece and the mirror is as it was. The video on this page shows the whole application.
Size, wording and the proof
Measure the glass inside the frame, not the frame, and leave two or three inches clear on every side. A short sign such as a welcome or a guest book line reads well at the size this page opens at, 23 inches on the long side. A seating chart with a long list of names wants a big mirror, and its own page opens at 24 by 36 inches. Under Artwork, choose Upload my design for a file of your own, or Design it for me - it is free - and write the names, the date and the wording exactly as they should appear. A proof comes by email before anything prints, and you approve it with a tick that says you have checked every name, date and spelling. Production is two business days after approval, and free shipping takes 3-5 business days.
Questions people ask about these
Can you put decals on mirrors?
Yes. A mirror is the easiest surface for a static cling: smooth, non-porous and always clean. The cling holds with no adhesive and peels off in one piece.
Can I use permanent vinyl on a mirror?
It will stick, and it is meant to stay: taking it off needs heat, solvent and patience, and a mirror scratches if you rush. For a mirror you will give back or reuse, choose a cling.
What size mirror do I need for a wedding seating chart?
The more names, the bigger the glass. Measure inside the frame and leave two or three inches clear on every side. Our seating chart page opens at 24 by 36 inches and goes up to 48 by 60.
How do I put a decal on a mirror without bubbles?
Clean the mirror, mist it with plain water, lay the cling on while the glass is wet, slide it level and smooth it from the center outwards with a card. Once the water dries it holds on its own.
Can I use my own design or wording?
Yes. Upload a finished design as a PNG, JPEG, PDF, AI or SVG, or type the names, date and wording and let the designer set them. White lettering is the classic look; colored lettering prints over a layer of white so it stays solid on the glass.
Can I keep the decal after the wedding?
Yes. Peel it off, lay it flat between two sheets of paper, and it can go back on a clean mirror at home.
