Where to order one large custom vinyl decal

Nine of the eleven printers below will sell you a single large vinyl decal. Sticker Mule's die-cut stickers start at ten and stop at 36 by 24 inches, and StickerGiant stops at 11 by 14. For anything wider than four feet go to Signs.com (52 by 600 inches), Decals.com (120 inches wide) or Sticker Cutting (52 inches wide, any length). Up to 48 by 80 inches, StickersFox prints one laminated decal, shows it to scale on a drawing of a van, a storefront, a boat or a wall before you order, ships it the next business day after you approve the proof, and does not charge for shipping.

One piece is the normal order

A truck has two doors, a storefront has one window and a boat has one name. People who buy large decals buy one, two or three.

Two sticker printers sit at the bottom of this table for that reason: Sticker Mule's die-cut stickers start at ten, and StickerGiant starts at ten and stops at 11 by 14 inches. Everyone else here takes a single vinyl decal.

How big do you need to go

Measure the flat panel, not the vehicle. The usable area of a door, a tailgate or a van side is smaller than it looks, because the decal has to clear handles, trim and body lines.

Our limit is 48 inches on the short side and 80 on the long side, which is enough for a door, a tailgate, a van side or a shop window in one piece. For a decal that runs the length of a box truck, Signs.com (52 by 600 inches), Decals.com (120 inches wide, more in panels) and Sticker Cutting (52 inches wide, any length) are the printers to call.

Laminated or not, permanent or removable

A decal that lives outdoors needs a clear layer over the ink. We laminate every large decal printed on white or clear vinyl (static cling is not laminated); Decals.com and Sticker Cutting laminate theirs too; BannerBuzz sells lamination as an option with "none" as the default, and several product pages do not mention it either way - ask before you order.

Adhesive is the other half. Ours is permanent: it is meant to stay where you put it, on a vehicle, a window, a boat or a wall. Vistaprint's car door decals and StickerYou's truck decals use a removable adhesive by default. Pick removable for a leased vehicle or a seasonal promotion, permanent for lettering that is meant to stay.

Seeing the size before you pay

The usual mistake with a first decal is ordering it too small: 12 inches sounds large on a screen and disappears on a van. Our order page draws your decal to scale, at the size you choose, on a van, a storefront, a 21-foot boat or a wall next to a person.

Then a designer prepares the cut line and sends a free proof of your actual file. Decals.com also sends a free proof that you approve; Signazon and Signs.com show a proof online in their design tools.

Production and shipping for a single decal

Signs.com and StickersFox both ship the next business day - Signs.com counts from the order, we count from your approval of the proof. Decals.com states three business days, and the slowest tier at Signazon and standard production at Sticker Cutting run about a week or more.

Free shipping is where one decal differs from a fleet order. Signs.com, BannerBuzz, BuildASign and Vistaprint state a threshold of about a hundred dollars, as does the Signazon header; Decals.com charges by weight and destination, StickerYou lists no free tier, and one decal can fall below those thresholds. We ship every order free: flat up to 15 inches, rolled in a tube above that.
