How to get it right
Outside the glass, at eye level
A storefront decal goes on the outside face of the window, so the print reads straight from the sidewalk. By default the vinyl is opaque white, and from inside the shop you see its plain white back. Plan for that. Clear vinyl, another choice under Material, lets the glass show around your design, and so does Static cling, the third, which has no adhesive. Clear vinyl is laminated like White; Static cling has no laminate. Both ship two business days after approval. A panel at eye level also sits where staff and customers look out, so choose a pane where a solid block costs you nothing: the glass beside the door, or the section behind a display shelf, not the view over your counter. The drawing puts the panel next to a 5'9" person, so you can see where eye level falls and slide your layout up or down. Apply it to clean, dry, smooth glass. On White and Clear vinyl the adhesive is permanent and cannot be repositioned, so settle the spot before you press it on.
What belongs on a three-foot panel
A 36 x 24 panel is large, and it holds one idea well: your name and your mark, with at most one short line beneath. Hours and sale messages change, and a permanent decal cannot. Put those on a cling inside the glass: choose Static cling under Material and set Print to Mirror, so it reads from the sidewalk. If your logo is a badge or a circle, die cut around it so no white rectangle shows. If it is a wordmark, a rounded rectangle in your brand color behind the name usually reads cleaner than a cut that hugs every letter. To test other sizes, choose the 6, 12, 24, 36 or 48 inch square, or use Other and type any size you like, up to 48 x 80 inches on vinyl and 48 x 48 on Static cling. Then press "Try your logo" and look at the space around it on the drawing.
One window, or a matching set across the front
One window takes one piece. A shop with a window on each side of the door, or a corner unit facing two streets, often wants a matching panel in each. The quantity tiles offer 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10, and you can type any count. Every piece is a copy of the file you upload with it, so a matching set is a single cart item. If the file is not ready, order now and send it afterward through the link we email. Before anything prints, our team looks over the size and the cut line, then you get a free proof, and changes on the proof are free. At this size the panel is rolled into a sturdy tube, and it arrives crease-free. Once you approve the proof, a White vinyl panel ships the next business day, since making it takes 24 hours; allow two business days for Clear vinyl or Static cling.
Questions people ask about these
What is the difference between window clings and window decals?
A decal is vinyl with a permanent adhesive, usually stuck to the outer side of the glass and meant to stay. A cling carries no adhesive and holds to the inside surface of the glass by static, so it can come down and be replaced. On this page White vinyl and Clear vinyl are decals, and Static cling under Material is the cling.
Can I see through a storefront window decal?
Not through white vinyl, the default: it blocks the view and the light behind it, and the shop side shows only a plain white back. Choose Clear vinyl or Static cling under Material when the glass should show around the design. We do not make perforated see-through window film.
Can I take it off later if I change my storefront?
Plan on leaving it where you put it. The adhesive is permanent, and we cannot promise how it comes off. For glass that will change, choose Static cling under Material: it has no adhesive and goes on the inside of the glass.
What size should a storefront window decal be?
Start from 36 x 24 inches, where this page opens, then compare other sizes on the drawing. The largest single piece is 48 x 80 inches on vinyl and 48 x 48 on Static cling.
Can the logo have a photo or a gradient in it?
Yes. Full-color printing handles photos, gradients and fine detail. You get a free proof, checked by a real person, before anything is made.
Are window decals allowed on my storefront?
Sign rules differ by city and by lease, so check yours first. What you design is what we print, and we cannot advise on local rules.
