Where an 11x17 poster gets put up
Bulletin boards, cafe and shop windows, laundromat walls, school corridors, a stand on the counter: 11x17 is the poster that fits the places people are willing to give you. At two letter pages side by side it is big enough to read from a few steps away, so a gig, a class schedule, a sale or a menu does not get lost among the smaller flyers around it. It also means one design can go to dozens of venues without anyone having to find a large wall. If you only need to cover a single board, order one print; if you are handing posters out around town, order the run in one go.
Turn a flyer into a poster
A letter-size flyer holds a paragraph; an 11x17 poster should hold one idea. Put the name of the event or offer and the date at the top in type you could read from the door, and move times, address and a QR code to the bottom third for people who step closer. Choose portrait or landscape with the orientation toggle in the calculator, and keep important text away from the very edge of the sheet. If your design already exists at letter size, send it as a vector PDF, AI or EPS and it scales up to 11x17 with sharp type and clean logos.
File size, proof and delivery
For a photo or raster design, 3300 by 5100 pixels gives 300 DPI at full 11x17 size; a vector file stays sharp at any size. Every order starts with a free proof: a designer checks the file first and tells you before the proof if the resolution will show, changes are free, and nothing prints until you approve. Production takes 2 business days after you approve the proof, then shipping within the US is free and takes 3-5 business days by USPS. The paper is made for indoor use, or outdoors only in a dry covered spot such as under a roof or behind glass.
Questions people ask about these
Can I order just one 11x17 poster?
Yes. One poster per design is a normal order, with the same free proof as a larger run, and the per-piece rate goes down from the second copy of the same design.
What resolution do I need for 11x17?
A vector PDF, AI or EPS is ideal. For a photo or raster file, 3300 by 5100 pixels gives 300 DPI at full size. Lower resolutions still print, just softer, and our designer tells you before the proof if it will show.
Are tabloid and ledger the same as 11x17?
Yes. Tabloid and ledger are names for the same 11 by 17 inch sheet: tabloid is portrait, ledger is landscape. You can pick either orientation in the calculator.
Why does the calculator say custom size?
11x17 is set up as a custom size in the calculator. This page opens it already set to 11 by 17 inches, so you only upload your file and check the proof.
Can I put an 11x17 poster in a shop window?
Yes, on the inside of the glass. The paper is not waterproof, so keep it indoors or in a dry covered spot. For the outside of a window, a vinyl sticker is the right product.
