How to get it right
The size every frame store stocks
Most home and craft stores keep 11x14 frames on the shelf year-round, alongside 8x10 and 5x7 - it's a size you can walk in and buy a finished frame for the same afternoon, no special order needed. That makes it a practical pick for a birthday or housewarming gift, a desk or bookshelf photo, or the first piece in a wall you're planning to build out over time. It's small enough to sit close to eye level without overwhelming a small room, but still a step up from a standard photo print in how it reads on a wall.
Building a gallery wall at 11x14
A row or grid of same-size 11x14 frames is one of the simplest gallery-wall layouts to plan, because every frame and mat is identical - you're only deciding on spacing and arrangement, not mixing sizes. Leave two to three inches between frames so the grid reads as a set rather than a cluster, and mix a couple of landscape orientations into a mostly portrait run to break up the rhythm. Because each print is ordered separately, you can add to the grid later without reprinting anything that's already up, and swapping one photo out for a new one never disturbs the rest of the wall.
Files, paper and how it ships
A vector PDF, AI or EPS file keeps type and line art crisp at any size. For a photo or raster design, aim for around 3300 by 4200 pixels to hit 300 DPI at full size - lower resolutions still print, just softer at close range. Posters print on semi-gloss paper, which holds color well without the glare of a fully glossy sheet. Production takes two business days after you approve the proof, and because 11x14 is under 15 inches, it ships flat in a rigid mailer that won't bend in transit.
Questions people ask about these
How much does an 11x14 poster cost to print?
The calculator shows the live price the moment you select 11x14, and one poster is a normal order.
Is 11x14 a standard frame size?
Yes - it's one of the most common ready-made frame sizes sold at craft and home stores, so you won't need a custom frame.
What resolution do I need for an 11x14 print?
About 3300 by 4200 pixels for 300 DPI at full size, or any vector PDF, AI or EPS file - our designer checks it before the proof goes out.
Can I order just one 11x14 poster?
Yes - the online minimum is one poster per design, with a free proof before anything prints.
Does an 11x14 poster ship flat or rolled?
Flat, in a rigid mailer - it's under our 15-inch cutoff, so it arrives ready to frame without a crease to flatten out.
Is 11x14 big enough for a living room wall?
On its own it reads best up close - a desk, shelf or hallway. For a single piece over a sofa or bed, a larger size like 20x30 or 24x36 fills more wall.
