How to get it right
When to size up to 30x40
This is the size for a room that's already outgrown 24x36 - a tall wall, an open living area, a commercial lobby, or any space where the print has to hold its own from ten feet or more away. It works as a single dominant piece rather than part of a grouping; pairing it with smaller prints usually makes the smaller ones look like an afterthought instead of a considered layout. If the wall is genuinely large, 30x40 is often the size that finally looks proportional instead of small, closing the gap that would otherwise sit empty above a low sofa or a long console.
Resolution matters more at this size
The bigger the print, the more a design with text or logos benefits from a vector PDF, AI or EPS file, since it stays sharp no matter how large it's scaled. A raster photo needs real resolution behind it - around 9000 by 12000 pixels for 300 DPI at full size - and a phone photo that looks fine on a screen can turn visibly soft once it's blown up this far. Our designer checks every file and lets you know before the proof if the resolution won't hold up.
Shipping, and settling in after the tube
30x40 ships rolled in a sturdy tube with free US shipping, and production takes two business days after you approve the proof. A poster that's spent time rolled can curl slightly at first - unrolling it and weighting the corners flat for a day before you frame it yourself makes it noticeably easier to work with, and keeps the corners from fighting the glass once it's up. Order it a few days ahead of when you need it on the wall, so that settling time doesn't eat into your event or installation deadline.
Questions people ask about these
Is 30x40 a standard poster size?
Yes - it's one of our sixteen standard sizes; only 36x36, 36x40 and 36x48 are larger.
How much does a 30x40 poster cost?
Choose 30x40 in the calculator and the price appears instantly, with free shipping built in.
What resolution do I need for a sharp 30x40 print?
About 9000 by 12000 pixels at 300 DPI, or a vector PDF, AI or EPS file - vector is worth using at this size if your design has type or logos.
Does 30x40 ship rolled or flat?
Rolled, in a sturdy tube - at this size flat shipping isn't an option.
Will a 30x40 poster lie flat after shipping rolled?
It relaxes within a day or two out of the tube; weighting the corners flat overnight makes it easier to frame or mount.
Can I get a 30x40 on foam board or canvas?
No - we print on semi-gloss poster paper only. A local framer can mount or frame the print once it arrives.
