How to get it right
The metal below the windows
Much of a passenger van's side is window, so the usable surface is the band of metal below the glass. Pick one flat panel, such as the rear quarter behind the sliding door, and keep the decal inside its edges. Skip the door track, the fuel door, the handles and any raised body line; none of them is the smooth surface the adhesive is made for. Measure the panel at its narrowest point, leave a margin all round and type that size. Treat the drawing as a guide to proportion only. Mirror the position on the other side, and the pair will look planned. There is no moving a decal later, so mark the spot with painter's tape before the backing comes off.
Church name, city and what to leave off
On a van, the church name does the work. Set it on one line in heavy letters, and put the city beneath it at about half the height. If your logo has a symbol, place it to the left. A piece 30 x 10 is three times wider than tall, a shape that carries a short name and a mark side by side. Print the decal on a solid background that contrasts with the paint. A cream rounded rectangle with navy letters suits a dark van, and a navy one with cream letters suits a light van. Leave service times off; the Sunday schedule will move someday and the decal will stay as printed. A website or phone number earns a place only if the letters stay large. The Try your logo feature puts your artwork on the drawing, so you can check how it reads.
One van now, a second van later
Two pieces cover one van, a decal on each side, cut from one file. A congregation with two matching vans types 4. If the food pantry van wears a different design, add that design to the cart on its own and approve it separately. A smaller piece for the rear doors works the same way: another design, another item. If your group borrows or rents a van, ask the owner before you order, since the adhesive is permanent. A file that is not ready can follow: order now, and we email a link for uploading it later. A van that joins the ministry next season can print from the file you already have. Once the proof is approved, the pair is on its way the next business day, in a sturdy tube.
Questions people ask about these
What size church van decal should I order?
Each side starts at 30 x 10 inches on the drawing. Measure the flat metal panel you plan to use and type its width and height. The short side can go up to 48 inches and the long side up to 80.
Can we put the same decals on a church bus?
Yes, on a flat panel of the bus. One piece can reach 48 x 80 inches. A longer design is built from panels, and every panel is added to the cart separately.
Is this the same as church van graphics or a wrap?
No. A wrap covers much of a van, which is a different job from ours: we print single decals. You or a local shop will have to put them on.
Do you make small stickers for members' cars?
Stickers printed in quantity are a separate product. Our church bumper stickers page covers them, and this page is for large decals from one piece.
Can we move the decals to a newer van?
No. A decal is made to stay, and we cannot say how a panel will look after one comes off. The newer van gets a fresh pair, and the same file can be used.
Can you design our church's decal?
Not from a description. Send your logo file, or a layout someone in the congregation made, and the designer tidies it up and gets the cut line ready at no charge.
