How to get it right
Cut to the outline, not to a box
Square, Circle and Rectangle trim the film to a plain shape around the artwork. Die cut trims it to the outline of the artwork itself, so a tulip is a tulip and a logo keeps its own edge. The film is clear, and white ink goes under the design wherever the colors need a solid base; the proof shows exactly where. Our designer prepares the cut line and it is on the free proof, with changes at no charge until you approve. Send artwork with a clean, readable outline: the shape of the cut is the shape of the artwork.
Mirror or Normal, and which glass
Mirror, the default, prints the design in reverse. Put it on the inside of the window and it reads correctly from the street. Normal prints as is: use it for mirrors, or for a cling read from inside the room. The free proof confirms the orientation before anything prints. A cling has no adhesive and holds by static on clean, smooth glass, so it peels off in one piece and can go back up. Keep it on protected glass, inside the window or on a pane that wind and rain do not reach. Store it flat between two sheets of paper.
Sizes, quantity and timing
Sizes run from 4 to 48 inches on the long side. Twelve inches suits a shop window or a door pane, the small sizes suit a row of shapes along a sill, and the largest fill a display window. Order from one piece. The price per cling goes down as the quantity goes up, and the calculator shows the exact price before you add anything to the cart. The proof usually arrives within one business day, production takes two business days after you approve it, and US shipping is free, 3-5 business days in transit.
Questions people ask about these
Where can I get custom shape window clings made?
In the calculator on this site. Keep Die cut under Shape, set the size and Mirror or Normal, and add your artwork. A designer checks the file, prepares the cut line and sends a free proof. Your card is charged only after you approve it.
How can I create a custom window cling in my own shape?
Draw the shape you want as one piece of artwork - a flower, a cup, a heart, your logo - and send it as your design. The film is cut along the outline of the artwork. The designer prepares the cut line and the proof shows it; if it needs a change, say so on the proof and it is fixed at no charge.
What is the difference between window clings and window decals?
A decal is vinyl with a permanent adhesive, meant to stay where it is put. A cling has no adhesive and holds by static, so it comes off in one piece, leaves no residue and can go back up. Choose a cling for glass that changes and a decal for glass that does not.
Is there a minimum order for custom shape clings?
No. One cling is a normal order, with the same free proof as a larger set, and the price per cling goes down as the quantity goes up.
Should I choose Mirror or Normal?
Mirror if the cling goes on the inside of a window and has to be read from outside. Normal for a mirror, or for a sign read from inside the room. The free proof confirms it before anything prints.
Can a shaped cling go on the outside of a window?
Only on protected glass, such as a covered entrance. Static holds on smooth, clean glass, but heavy wind and rain can lift the edges, so a fully exposed window is not the place for a cling. The usual spot is the inside of the glass.
