How to get it right
Permanent does not have to mean stuck
Static cling is usually sold as a temporary material, and that undersells it. There is no time limit on how long it stays: on clean interior glass it holds indefinitely. What removability buys you is not a shorter life, it is a cheaper ending - a rebrand, a new suite number, a move to bigger premises. The logo that took an installer half a day to apply is the logo nobody updates; the one that lifts off in a minute gets kept current.
Where a door logo goes, and how big
Eye height, on the handle side, sized to be read from a few steps away rather than from the parking lot - that is 10" to 16" for most doors. A second, smaller piece at the bottom of the glass carrying the suite number or opening hours is common and is a separate cling, so each can change on its own. White ink is the usual choice for a one-color logo on glass, so the mark sits on the door with no visible background.
Leased premises, and the deposit nobody thinks about
Adhesive vinyl on a leased glass door is a removal cost at the end of the lease, and on a frosted or etched pane it is worse. A cling has no adhesive to leave behind, so the door goes back exactly as it was. Worth knowing before the first order: static cling wants smooth, genuinely clean glass, so if your door is frosted or textured, the logo goes on a clear pane beside it, or on vinyl instead.
Questions people ask about these
How long will a logo cling stay on the door?
As long as you want it there. On clean interior glass there is no time limit - static cling is removable, not temporary. People take it down when the branding changes, not because the film gives up.
Do I need an installer?
No, and that is most of the point. Clean the glass, mist it with plain water, place the cling while the glass is wet so it slides into position, smooth from the center out. Ten minutes, one person.
Can I get a one-color logo with no background?
Yes - white ink, or a die cut that follows the outline of the mark. Either way there is no visible rectangle around the logo.
What size should a door logo be?
Ten to sixteen inches at eye height for most doors. Larger belongs on the main window rather than the door itself. Sizes run from 4" to 48".
Will it work on a frosted door?
No. Static needs smooth, non-porous glass; frosted, etched and textured panes do not hold it reliably. On those, use vinyl or move the logo to a clear pane.
What happens when we rebrand?
Peel it off in one piece, put the new one up. Nothing to scrape, no residue, no removal bill at the end of a lease.
