How to get it right
Dark glass, pale logos and white ink
Nail salon logos tend to be pale: white, blush, champagne, gold. Printed with no white layer beneath, those colors vanish against dark or tinted storefront glass. Choose Clear vinyl under Material and white ink is printed under your colors, so white stays white, blush stays blush and the glass shows around the artwork. Keep Print on Normal for mounting on the outside. On clear glass with a dark logo, solid White vinyl is the plainer choice, with a laminate in gloss or matte. Either way, the proof shows the result before anything is made. Before you pick a size, tape a sheet of paper cut to 36 x 24 inches onto the glass and look at it from the sidewalk.
Services on the glass, hours and promotions on a cling
A short list of services belongs under the name: manicure, pedicure, gel, acrylic. Keep it to what you have offered for a long time and set it small. Hours, a walk-ins sign, a holiday closure or a gift-card promotion change often, so leave them off the permanent decal. Make a separate Static cling and order it with Print set to Mirror; hung on the inside of the glass, it reads the right way round from the sidewalk. Because a cling carries no adhesive, it lifts off when the promotion ends, and it needs smooth, protected glass to hold. Our salon window decals page covers clings for service lists that change. Here the decal is the permanent name on the outside.
The big window, the door and a second location
A salon in a strip center usually has one large window, a glass door and sometimes a narrow second pane. Give the large window the name panel, sized to the pane minus a margin. A smaller piece on the door at eye level is a separate item with its own proof. If you open a second location, the same file prints again. Clean the glass, let it dry fully and press the vinyl on in one pass: the adhesive on White and Clear vinyl is permanent and allows no second try. Rules for signs differ by city and by lease, so check yours before you order. A 36 x 24 panel arrives rolled in a tube.
Questions people ask about these
Does a window decal work on dark or tinted glass?
Yes, with the right film. On dark glass pick Clear vinyl: white ink goes down under the colors, so white and pastel lettering stays bright instead of sinking into the tint. White vinyl is the alternative; being opaque, it hides the glass behind it. The free proof shows how either one will look.
Can I list my services on the decal and change them later?
List them on the decal only if they rarely change. A permanent decal cannot be edited, so a new service list means a new order. Put specials, new treatments and seasonal items on a separate Static cling inside the glass, where you can swap them.
What is the difference between window clings and window decals?
Think permanent versus swappable. The decal is adhesive vinyl you put up once for the salon name. The cling is held by static with no glue at all, so a walk-ins sign or a holiday notice can come down when it is out of date.
What size should a nail salon window decal be?
Start from 36 x 24 inches on the main window and go smaller on the door. Measure the pane, leave a margin and type the exact width and height. Vinyl prints as one piece all the way to 48 x 80 inches.
Can I put the decal on the inside of the glass instead?
Clear vinyl printed Mirror goes on the inside and reads correctly from outside, and so does Static cling. Clear vinyl has a permanent adhesive, so plan on leaving it. White vinyl is made for the outside face.
Do you make perforated or etched window film for nail salons?
No. Ours are solid printed pieces, not film with holes or an etched look. Pick White vinyl, Clear vinyl or Static cling. Clear lets the glass show around the design; White blocks the view wherever it covers.
