How to get it right
Door, sidelight or suite window: where the name goes
An office suite usually gives you up to three pieces of glass: the door, a narrow sidelight beside it and sometimes a window onto the corridor. Put the firm name and mark on the door at eye level, where visitors are already looking for the number. A sidelight suits the suite number alone, set tall and narrow. Measure the glass itself, not the frame, leave an inch or two of margin on every side and type the exact width and height. White vinyl blocks the view through the area it covers, so keep it off the part of the door where your reception desk needs a sightline. Some buildings set rules for tenant signs, so check your lease before you order.
What belongs on an office door, and what does not
Keep a permanent decal to what stays true for as long as you hold the lease: the firm or trade name, the mark and the suite number. Leave off partner names, phone extensions and the back-at-2:00 note. Those change, and vinyl with a permanent adhesive cannot be edited. Hours, a delivery instruction or a holiday closure belong on a Static cling inside the glass. Pick it under Material, and its Mirror print puts the words the right way round for someone standing in the corridor. If you want the glass visible around the letters, Clear vinyl does that, with white ink beneath the colors so white lettering keeps its brightness. Frosted film for a conference room, and perforated film, are not products we make.
Moving in, moving out, or sharing a floor
A decal with permanent adhesive stays where you put it. Plan on leaving it, and do not count on it coming off cleanly when the lease ends. If you rent short-term, or sit in a coworking space where tenants rotate, choose Static cling: it has no adhesive, goes on the inside of protected glass and peels off. A floor of small suites or a row of private offices can order the same panel in a larger count; every piece prints from one file and shares one proof. If the logo file is not ready, order now and send it afterward. A person looks over the size and the cut line first, and you can change the free proof as often as you need.
Questions people ask about these
What is the difference between window clings and window decals?
A decal is vinyl with a permanent adhesive, put on the outside face of the glass to stay. A cling has no adhesive and holds to the inside of protected glass by static, so it peels off. For an office, the name and suite number go on a decal, and anything that changes, such as hours or a visitor notice, goes on a cling. Both are choices under Material.
What should an office window decal say?
The firm or trade name, your mark and the suite or room number are enough. If the door faces a public corridor, add one short line about the work, such as Tax and Bookkeeping. Skip phone extensions, staff names and hours: they change, and a decal cannot be edited.
Can I see through an office window decal?
Yes, on Clear vinyl and on Static cling the glass shows around the design. Not through White vinyl: it is opaque wherever it covers, and from inside you see its plain white back. Frosted film and one-way perforated film are not among our products.
What size office door decal should I order?
Start from 24 x 12 inches for a name and a suite number, then measure your own glass and type its exact size. The largest single piece is 48 x 80 inches on vinyl and 48 x 48 on Static cling.
Can I send my own logo file?
Yes. Upload a PNG, JPEG, PDF, AI or SVG file with your order, or send it afterward. A person checks the size and the cut line, then you get a free proof, and changes on the proof are free. You pay after you approve it.
Can I take the decal off when we move out?
Plan on leaving it. The adhesive is permanent, and we cannot promise how the glass will look afterward. If the lease is short, choose Static cling, which has no adhesive and peels off. Check your lease and building rules for tenant signs before you order.
