How to get it right
Start with the rulebook, then the body panel
The rules for your class set how big the number is, which colors it can use and where it goes. We print the size, colors and design in your file and we do not check them against any rulebook, so check your class rules before you order. Then pick the surface. Each panel needs a clean, dry, smooth spot on a door skin or the roof, away from seams, vents and bolt heads. The drawing shows a cargo van, not a race car, so use it only to judge scale. The adhesive is permanent. If your number changes from season to season, plan on a new panel rather than lifting the old one.
Contrast, shape and what we do not cut
A number reads from farthest away when it is big, heavy and set on a solid background: a dark number on a light panel, or the reverse. Printing the number and its background on one piece gives you that contrast whatever the car's color. Choose a circle, a rounded rectangle or a die cut shaped to your own design, such as a number inside a shield. The cut follows the outer outline only, so the inside of a zero or an eight stays printed and is not cut out. Keep the digits plain, because a heavy, simple face reads best at speed. We do not make loose cut-vinyl digits or magnetic numbers. Every panel is printed and cut as a single piece.
Three pieces of one design
Both doors and the roof make three pieces of one design, so set the quantity to 3. If your rules call for a different size on the roof, that is a second cart item at its own size. A sponsor logo is a separate design and its own cart item, and a new number is a new design with its own proof. The proof shows the number at print size, so check the digits, the colors and the dimensions against your rulebook before you approve. Accepted files are PNG, JPEG, PDF, AI and SVG. After approval the panels are printed, laminated and cut in 24 hours and leave the next business day, rolled in a sturdy tube. US shipping is free.
Questions people ask about these
What size should race car numbers be?
Your class rules set it, so check them first. Then choose Other and type that size. This page opens at 20 x 18 inches.
Are these cut vinyl numbers?
No. Every panel is one printed piece, cut around its outline, with no separate digits to line up. Magnets are not something we make.
Can I get numbers for both doors and the roof?
Yes. Quantity 3 gives three pieces of one design. A roof panel at a different size is a separate cart item.
Can I add sponsor logos?
A sponsor logo prints in full color like any other artwork. Each logo is its own design, ordered separately from the number panels.
Can I use my own number font or style?
Yes. Send your own design and the free proof shows it at print size before anything prints. Check the style against your class rules first.
Will the panels come off after the season?
They are not made to. The adhesive is permanent and not repositionable, and we make no promise about removal. If you need numbers you can lift and move, this is not the product.
