How to get it right
The flat part of each front door
Look at the door from the side and find the flattest stretch, usually the lower half below the window. Stay away from the handle, the edge of the door, the fuel door and any crease that runs along the body. Textured plastic trim and rough patches are not smooth, and the adhesive needs a smooth surface that is clean and dry. Both front doors take the same decal, so the pair is one file with a count of two. A decal cannot be lifted and moved once it is down, so mark the rectangle with masking tape and walk to the curb to look at it. For a car you also drive for family, a car window cling inside the side glass is the option you can take down. The door decal is the one that stays.
A layout people can read in passing
A car door is read from a few steps away or from a stopped car, so the layout has to work at a distance. That leaves room for a name, a short line on what you do, and a phone number, and not much more. Give the phone number a line of its own, close to the name in size. Keep to two or three colors that stand out against your paint: light artwork on a dark car, dark artwork on a light one. A solid rounded rectangle behind the text keeps the layout readable on any color of paint, and a die cut traces the outline of a badge or a mascot. Photos and gradients print too. Check the balance with "Try your logo" on the drawing, then decide between a glossy and a matte laminate.
