How to get it right
Clear of the handle, the camera and the stamped lettering
Look for the flattest stretch of the tailgate, usually the wide panel below the handle. Keep the decal clear of the handle, of a rear camera if your truck has one, and of any raised or recessed factory lettering. The adhesive needs a smooth surface, and a dip or a ridge is not one. Skip grained plastic trim for the same reason. Lay two strips of painter's tape along the ends of the flat area, measure between them, and take a few inches off each end. That is your width. Type it into Other with the height you want. The adhesive is permanent, so tape the band in place and step back before you peel the backing.
A band that reads from the car behind
A tailgate is read from behind, at a distance, so keep the message short. A business name in heavy letters, with one phone line or web address at the same height, works better than a paragraph. Two or three colors with strong contrast carry farther than a busy palette. The decal is one printed piece of white vinyl, so its background is part of it. A solid band with light letters stays readable on any truck color, and rounded corners keep it tidy. A logo that has a shape of its own can be die cut instead. Full color means a photo or a gradient is fine. One thing we do not make is loose cut-vinyl lettering, where only the letters stick and the paint shows between them.

What size decal fits a pickup tailgate?
This page opens at 48 x 12 inches. Measure the flat area of your own tailgate and type that width and height in Other. One piece can be up to 80 inches long.
Can I wrap my whole tailgate?
No. We do not offer full tailgate wraps or installation. We print a flat decal, and a band across the flattest part is what this page is built for.
Will the decal cover the handle or the camera?
Not if you keep it clear of them. A decal has no cut-outs, so it cannot open around a handle or a camera. Place the band below them.
Is this the same as vinyl lettering?
No. Cut vinyl lettering is loose letters on transfer tape, and we do not make it. Your tailgate decal is one piece of white vinyl, printed in full color and cut around the design.
