How to get it right
Cut around the mascot, not around a box
A mascot is a shape, and a square sticker hides that shape. Die cutting follows the outer edge of your artwork, so a tiger head becomes a tiger-head sticker. Because shape does not change the price, there is no reason to settle for a plain rectangle. Cartoon-style art with a thick outline cuts best, since the outline gives the cut line a clean edge to follow. If your mascot has thin whiskers or a wing tip that sticks out, the designer smooths the cut and the proof shows exactly where it falls.
Rewards, hand-outs and new-student packets
A mascot sticker is a prize a child recognizes immediately. Teachers can use it for good work, a principal can give it at an assembly, and a new-student packet can open with the school character on top. Several poses make a better set than one: the mascot waving, the mascot reading, the mascot holding a trophy. Each pose is its own item in the cart, with a quantity and a free proof of its own. Order the same size for the set and a student can collect them all. Give each pose a short caption, or none at all, so the character stays the main thing on the sticker.
Approved artwork and clean files
Mascots and their drawings often belong to a school, a district or the artist who made them. Use artwork your school has approved, and ask the front office who looks after it, since many schools have a brand or licensing office. A vector file is best, and a high-resolution PNG works. A mascot copied from a team website or a game program will print soft. Our designer prepares the cut line from whatever file you send. The free proof then shows the mascot with its cut before anything prints, and changes to it are free.
Questions people ask about these
Where can I find mascot stickers for my school?
You can have them made from your own mascot artwork. Upload the file, choose a size and quantity, and the proof shows the cut around the character before anything prints.
Are school mascots copyrighted?
That is a legal question and we cannot advise on it. Use artwork your school has approved, and ask whoever looks after its brand, since many schools have a brand or licensing office. The sticker is printed from the file you provide.
What mascot art cuts best?
Cartoon-style art with a thick outline gives the cleanest cut. Thin spikes, fine hair and loose pieces are hard to cut, so keep the outer edge simple; the designer prepares the cut line and the proof shows the final outline.
Can I order several poses of the mascot?
Yes. Put each pose in the cart as its own design. A set of different poses is built from separate lines, not from a single sheet.
Can the mascot sticker carry a student's name?
No. Every sticker in a design prints exactly the same, so names, numbers and other changes between stickers are not possible.
Are mascot stickers waterproof?
Yes. The white vinyl is printed in full color under a laminate, and it is waterproof and dishwasher-safe. Glossy and matte cost the same.
