How to get it right
What a lot attendant needs to read
A permit is checked in seconds, often from a moving cart or a few steps away. Give the year the biggest type on the sticker, with the lot or the group, Student, Staff or Visitor, directly under it. A solid background color and a plain typeface read better than a crest with fine detail, so keep the school mark small and in a corner. Add a contrasting border if the sticker will sit on tinted glass. Free proof is the place to judge it: the proof shows your layout and the cut line, and you can change it as often as you like before approving.
A new design for each lot and each year
Every sticker in a design prints the same, so a permit tells an attendant which lot and which year, not which driver. That works to your advantage: give each lot its own design and each year its own color, and an old permit is obvious at a glance. Each design is its own item in the cart, with its own quantity and its own free proof, so student, staff and visitor permits can each be ordered at the amount you need. Plan on your office keeping its own record of who holds a permit, since the stickers are not marked with one person's name or a running count.
