How to get it right
Why the inside of the windshield
A permit on the outside of the glass can be scraped off, peeled up or traded to another car, and it takes every rain and every wiper blade. A front adhesive sticker sits on the other side. The adhesive is on the printed face, which presses against the glass from the inside, so no one can reach it from the street, and the glass keeps the weather off the printed side. From outside it reads through the glass like a sticker on a shop window. That is the whole idea of front adhesive: the sticker is read from the side opposite the one it is stuck to. For the outside surface of a car, use a regular clear sticker, whose adhesive is on the back.
One color for each season
Enforcement is easier when the current permit is visible at a glance. Many lots change the color each year, or each term: green this season, blue the next, so a guard can see an old permit from several spaces away. Put the year in large type, add the lot or building name, and keep any number big and plain. Permits that each carry a different number are separate designs; tell us in the note and we confirm on the proof how they are set up. The sticker is printed over white, so a pale yellow or a bright orange stays clear against the view through the glass, and the proof shows how it will look.
Where on the windshield, and what about guests
Put it where your state's rules and your property manager allow; many lots name a corner, and some require it away from the driver's line of sight. Check the rule before you print, not after. Size matters: between 2 and 6 inches covers most permits, and Other takes a size of your own. Residents get a sticker that stays in the car. Guests are a different case, because a guest permit goes from car to car. For that, a static cling is a better fit, and our parking permit clings are made for exactly that.
Questions people ask about these
Does the permit go on the inside or the outside of the windshield?
On the inside. The adhesive is on the printed side of the clear sticker, so it presses against the glass from the inside and reads correctly from outside. Use a regular clear sticker for the outside surface.
Do I have to flip my design?
No. Upload the design the way it should read from outside. We mirror it and show the mirrored result on the free proof, so you check it before anything prints.
Can I print a different number on each permit?
Each number is a separate design, so say in the note what you need and the proof will show how it is set up. Permits that are identical share one design.
What size should a parking permit sticker be?
Sizes run from 2 to 6 inches, or choose Other for a size of your own. The calculator opens on 3 x 3.5 inches, which fits a year, a lot name and a bold color band.
Where on the windshield can I put it?
Place it where your state's rules and your property manager allow. Check the rules for the corner and the size before you order. We cannot give legal advice on placement.
How soon will the stickers be ready?
The free proof arrives first, and changes are free. Stickers are printed 2 business days after you approve it, and shipping is free by USPS, or faster at checkout.
