How to get it right
Who this suits — and who it doesn't
This fits a lot, apartment complex, HOA, or employer that assigns one design per period — a color or icon for this year's residents, a different one when it renews, distributed to everyone the same way. What it does not do is print a different number or name on each individual piece within one order; every cling in a batch is identical, because that's a single print run, not a variable-data job. A property with a hundred residents ordering a hundred identical permits for the current year is a straightforward order here. A property that needs permit #001 through #100, each one different, needs a supplier set up for sequential numbering, which isn't something we offer.
Color-coding by year or lot instead of numbering
Without sequential numbers, the common workaround is color or icon coding: last year's batch was blue, this year's is green, next year's a different shade again, so a glance at the color tells security or a patrol which permits are current without reading a number at all. The same idea works across multiple lots or buildings on one property — a different color per lot, one flat design each. Since every version is its own design in the cart, recoloring for a new period is simply a new upload and a new free proof.
Sizes and shapes for a windshield
4" fits a standard circle or square permit sized to sit in a windshield corner without blocking the driver's view; 6" gives room for a rectangle with a lot name, a year, or more detail than a small circle allows. Shape is square, circle, rectangle, or a die cut to a logo outline, all at the same size options. Applied to the inside of the windshield and printed Mirror, it reads correctly to anyone checking from outside the car — a patrol, an attendant, a neighbor — while sitting out of the weather entirely.
Questions people ask about these
Can permits be numbered individually for each resident or unit?
No — every cling in one order carries the same design. For sequential numbering on each piece, you'd need a supplier set up for that kind of variable-data printing, which we don't offer.
What size is standard for a windshield permit?
4" suits a circle or square permit; 6" gives room for a rectangle with a lot name or more detail. Both are sized to sit in a windshield corner.
How do we tell this year's permits from last year's without numbers?
Color-code instead — a different color or icon each renewal period, so a glance tells you whether a permit is current. Each color is its own order and its own free proof.
Does it leave adhesive residue on a tenant's windshield when removed?
No. Static cling holds with no adhesive at all, so it comes off in one piece and the glass needs nothing more than its usual cleaning.
Can our property or HOA logo go on the permit?
Yes — upload your logo or wording and we lay it into the design, with the year or lot name if you want it.
Can we order different colors for different lots at once?
Yes. Each color is its own design and its own line in the cart, with its own free proof.
