How to get it right
One per helmet, plus spares
The team parent who orders the decals needs one for every helmet in the bag, and the bag usually holds more helmets than the lineup. Count the whole roster, add the coach's spare helmets, then add a margin for the player who joins midseason and the decal that gets scuffed in a tournament. Fastpitch, slowpitch, travel and rec teams all do the same thing at the start of the season. A new season or a new sponsor is a new design, ordered as its own line with its own quantity and its own free proof.
Sizing for the side of a helmet
The side of a batting helmet is a curved space with the ear flap and the vent holes near it, so a decal that is too big wraps badly. Start at 2.5 inches and measure your helmet before you finalize. A mascot with a bold outline and a single color reads from the dugout; fine lines and tiny letters do not. The die cut follows the mascot's shape at the same cost as a circle. Keep the shape simple at the edge so it lies flat on the curve. If your program has more than one team color, order each color as its own line.
Glossy on glossy, and what to check first
Most batting helmets have a glossy shell, and a glossy laminate matches that finish; choose matte if your helmet is matte. The vinyl is waterproof, so sweat, dew and a wet dugout are all fine, and the adhesive is permanent, so place each decal with care. Before you decal a helmet, check your league and helmet maker's guidance on decals. We print the file you send; use artwork your team or league has approved, because official marks belong to their owners. The free proof shows the cut line before anything prints.
Questions people ask about these
What size softball helmet decal should I order?
Start at 2.5 x 2.5 inches for the side of a batting helmet, which is where this page opens. Measure your helmets first, because the curve and the ear flap limit the space. Any custom size is available in the calculator.
Are helmet decals allowed by my league?
That is for your league and your helmet maker to say. Check their guidance on decals before you apply one. We print the artwork you send.
How many should we order?
One for every helmet the team owns, plus spares for new players and for a decal that gets scuffed. Larger quantities lower the cost per decal.
Can I order a different decal for each team in our program?
Yes. Each design is its own line in the cart, with its own quantity and its own free proof, so a 10U and a 14U team can each have a design.
Is glossy or matte better on a helmet?
Glossy suits a glossy helmet shell and matte suits a matte one. Both cost the same, and you choose in the calculator.
How fast will the decals arrive before the first game?
Orders ship the next business day after you approve the proof, with free USPS shipping across the US. For most files the proof appears on screen in seconds; otherwise a designer emails it, usually within one business day.
