How to get it right
Drawer fronts and toolbox lids
A flat metal drawer front or a toolbox lid is one of the easiest surfaces to apply a sticker to, as long as it's wiped down first — shop dust and light grease on the surface will keep the adhesive from bonding properly. Size the sticker to the width of a single drawer, or go larger for a lid or side panel where there's more open space. A die-cut that follows a logo's own outline, rather than a square card around it, looks more like a painted mark than a slapped-on label. Spacing a set of smaller stickers across several drawers, rather than one large one across the whole face, also survives a drawer opening and closing better.
Branding a crew, a shop or a fleet
A shop putting its name on every toolbox on the floor, or a contractor marking tool trucks and carts for a crew, needs enough copies to cover every unit without a second order mid-job. Ordering a batch ahead of a new hire or a new truck means the design and proof only get handled once for the whole run. Since every shape costs the same, a shop can use a small die-cut for a drawer badge and a larger one for the side of a truck from the same order. Keep the artwork on file so a reorder for a new hire or a replacement box matches exactly.
What this is — and isn't
This is a printed full-color vinyl sticker with a permanent adhesive, not a magnetic badge you can move between boxes and not an engraved metal plate. That means the surface needs to be smooth, clean and dry before applying it, and once it's on, it's meant to stay. We have not tested it against degreasers or solvents, so keep the sticker away from the spots where you clean parts; daily handling and wipe-downs with water are what the laminated, waterproof vinyl is made for.
Questions people ask about these
What goes on a toolbox sticker besides the logo?
Most shops keep it to the logo and the business name; a phone number or website helps when a box travels to job sites.
Will a sticker stay on a drawer that opens and closes all day?
Yes, if it sits on the flat drawer face and not across the gap between drawers. A sticker that bridges two drawers tears the first time one opens.
What size works for a drawer front?
It depends on the drawer, but 4"x4" is a common starting point; a custom size fits a specific drawer or lid better.
Are these magnetic, or do they need adhesive?
They use a permanent adhesive, not a magnetic backing, so they aren't meant to move between boxes.
Will shop dust and daily handling wear it down?
The laminate takes daily handling and wipe-downs with water. We have not tested degreasers or solvents, so keep stickers off the areas where you clean parts.
Can I get small drawer badges and a large lid sticker in one order?
Yes. Add each size as its own item in the cart; both can use the same logo file.
Will I see a proof before I pay?
Yes, for most files. Upload your design and the proof appears on screen in seconds, with the cut line, at the size and shape you chose - before you pay. If a file needs a designer's eye, we email the proof instead, and changes are free until it is right. Nothing prints until you approve it.
