How to get it right
What "waterproof" actually means here
Waterproof is a claim about the material, not a marketing word. The vinyl itself does not absorb water the way an uncoated paper label does, and the laminate bonded on top seals the printed ink so it cannot lift or smear when it gets wet. That combination is what lets the same sticker go on a water bottle that gets rinsed daily, a cooler that sits in ice water, or a sign that stands out in the rain, without the print washing out or the edges curling up.
Waterproof vs. water-resistant: the difference that matters
Plenty of paper stickers are sold with a thin water-resistant coating, and that coating is not the same thing as laminated vinyl. A coated paper label can survive a splash; it is not built for a soak, a wash cycle, or a season outdoors, and water that reaches an edge or a scratch will still soak into the paper underneath. Vinyl does not have that weak point - the material itself is plastic, not paper, so there is nothing for water to swell or soften.
The dishwasher, and where else it holds up
These stickers go through a dishwasher without the print lifting, which is why they work well on tumblers, water bottles, and lunch boxes that get washed daily. Outdoors, the same laminate is built to last up to 5 years in direct sunlight, rain, and snow. What eventually gives out first is not the print - it is the adhesive bond on a surface that was dirty, wet, or textured when the sticker went on.
Water bottles, tumblers and cups
Most waterproof sticker orders end up on something that gets filled, carried and washed every day. On a water bottle or an insulated tumbler, keep the sticker to about 3" so it sits on the straight part of the side instead of wrapping around the curve, and press the edges down firmly - a sealed edge is what keeps the dishwasher out. The laminated vinyl takes normal wash cycles; it is the edge, not the face, that decides how long a sticker on a cup lasts.
Coolers, boats and kayaks
Coolers, kayaks and boat gear get splashed, rinsed and left in the sun, which is exactly what laminated vinyl is for. A cooler lid or a kayak deck takes a larger sticker than a bottle - 4" to 6" reads from across a dock. For a boat name or registration-size lettering, look at large decals, which are printed from one piece in bigger sizes. What we do not promise is a lifetime for constant soaking below the waterline.

Can these go in the dishwasher?
Yes. The laminated vinyl is dishwasher safe, and the print does not lift or fade from normal wash cycles on a tumbler or a water bottle.
How long will a waterproof sticker last outdoors?
Built to last up to 5 years outdoors in direct sunlight, rain, and snow. The laminate is what blocks the fading; the adhesive underneath is permanent once applied.
Can I use these in a pool or at sea?
They are waterproof, so ordinary contact with water is fine. We do not test or promise a submersion lifetime for constant soaking, like on a boat hull below the waterline.
How do I apply one so it actually stays waterproof?
Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol, let it dry fully, then press the whole sticker down from the center outward, not just the middle. A sealed edge is what keeps water out.
Is there a minimum order?
Ten stickers per design is the online minimum, and the price per sticker drops as you order more. Set the quantity in the calculator to fit your own use.
Is a waterproof sticker the same as a water-resistant one?
No. Water-resistant paper stickers use a coating that a splash can survive but a soak cannot. These are laminated vinyl, made for regular contact with water, not just an occasional splash.
