How to get it right
Fitting the curve of a steel tumbler
A tumbler's wall curves tighter than a water bottle or a laptop lid, so a large flat sticker tends to wrinkle or lift at the edges as it tries to follow the shape. Sizing down to a smaller design, or choosing a narrower custom shape rather than a wide square, lets the sticker sit flat across the curve without stretching. Placing it on the straightest section of the wall — usually the middle third, away from the base and the rim — gives the best result. Press it on slowly from one edge across to the other, working out air as you go, rather than laying the whole thing down at once.
Dishwashers and daily use
A tumbler gets washed far more often than most things a sticker ends up on, which is exactly the kind of repeated wear the laminated vinyl and permanent adhesive are built for. It's meant to survive dishwasher cycles along with rain and sweat, so normal hand-washing or a trip through the machine shouldn't lift the edges or fade the print. Applying it to a clean, dry tumbler — after washing off any factory coating or residue — gives the adhesive its best chance to hold from the very first cycle. It won't need to be reapplied after every wash the way a paper label might.
Printing names and logos in full color
Because this is full-color digital printing rather than single-color cut vinyl, a tumbler sticker can carry a gradient, a photo-based design, or a logo with several colors exactly as designed — something plain cut lettering can't do. That makes it a better fit for a coffee shop's logo, a team name in its actual colors, or a personalized design with more than one color, rather than a plain name in a single vinyl tone. If you're ordering for a group — a team, a staff, or a wedding party — keep the design and size the same across the batch so the set looks intentional together.
Questions people ask about these
Where can I order custom stickers for a tumbler?
Right here — choose your size, shape and quantity in the calculator and we'll send a free proof before printing.
Can you put stickers on tumblers?
Yes, as long as the surface is clean and dry, most insulated steel tumblers take a sticker well.
Will it survive the dishwasher?
Yes — the vinyl is laminated and built to stand up to dishwashers along with rain and sweat.
Can I get a single-color name in cut vinyl lettering instead?
No, this product is full-color printing rather than single-color cut lettering, which is a different process we don't offer.
What size works best for a tumbler?
Something in the 2 to 4 inch range usually fits the curve well; a custom die-cut around your logo's outline conforms better than a large square.
Does it stick to a powder-coated tumbler?
Yes, on a clean, dry powder coat. Heavily textured coatings give the adhesive less contact, so press the edges down firmly and let it sit before the first wash.
Will I see a proof before I pay?
Yes, for most files. Upload your design and the proof appears on screen in seconds, with the cut line, at the size and shape you chose - before you pay. If a file needs a designer's eye, we email the proof instead, and changes are free until it is right. Nothing prints until you approve it.
