How to get it right
The size between 11x14 and 16x20
Some walls are too small for 16x20 and some notices are too important for 11x14. A 14x18 poster fills that gap: tall enough to read from the far side of a small office, narrow enough to fit beside a doorway, a window or a shelf. It is a good pick for a single photograph on a short wall, a team announcement, a classroom schedule or a menu board by a till. If you are not sure which size fits, 14x18 is the one to choose when you want something noticeable without taking over the room.
Cropping photos for 14x18
The 14x18 shape is close to a 4:5 portrait photo. A standard 3:2 camera photo is longer and narrower than this, so expect to crop a little from the sides or leave a band of background. Decide the crop before you upload, and use the orientation toggle if your picture is wider than it is tall. For announcements, put the headline in the top third and keep any small print away from the very edge. Our designer looks at the file before the proof and tells you if anything needs adjusting, and changes after the proof are free.
Resolution, proof and delivery
For a photo or raster design, 4200 by 5400 pixels gives 300 DPI at full 14x18 size, and a vector PDF, AI or EPS stays sharp at any size. The proof is free and changes are free; nothing prints until you approve it, and our designer tells you before the proof if the resolution will show. Production takes 2 business days after you approve the proof, then shipping within the US is free and takes 3-5 business days by USPS. The paper is intended for indoor walls, or outdoors only in a dry covered spot such as under a roof or behind glass.
Questions people ask about these
Can I order just one 14x18 poster?
Yes. One poster per design is a normal order, with the same free proof as a larger run. The per-piece rate goes down from the second copy of the same design.
What resolution do I need for 14x18?
A vector PDF, AI or EPS is ideal. For a photo or raster file, 4200 by 5400 pixels gives 300 DPI at full size. Lower resolutions still print, just softer, and our designer tells you before the proof if it will show.
Will my camera photo fit 14x18 without cropping?
Probably not. A standard 3:2 photo is longer and narrower than 14x18, so it needs a small crop or a border. Choose the crop before you upload, and the proof shows exactly what will print.
Is 14x18 portrait or landscape?
Either. The calculator has an orientation toggle, so the same 14 by 18 inch size can hang tall or wide.
How does 14x18 compare with 16x20?
It is 2 inches narrower and 2 inches shorter than 16x20, which makes it a better fit for short walls and narrow spaces. Both are standard sizes in the calculator.
How long until it arrives?
Two business days in production after you approve the proof, then free US shipping by USPS taking 3-5 business days.
