How to get it right
Sizing for a jar's curve and front panel
Most 8 oz candle jars and standard mason jars have a flat or gently curved front panel wide enough for a 2.5 to 3.5 inch circle or a custom oval; a taller jar can take a 2x4 vertical rectangle instead. Because the label is die-cut to whatever outline you send — round, oval, or a custom shape following your logo — it doesn't need to be a plain circle or square, and a shaped label wrapped slightly around a curved jar still reads flat from the front. Send the jar's diameter if you're unsure which size will center cleanly on the panel.
Staying legible over what's inside the jar
A jar's contents sit directly behind the label, so wax color, jam color or an empty jar's shelf background all show through a fully clear print unless something stops them. White ink prints under the colored parts of your design by default, keeping ingredient text, a brand name or a logo solid and readable no matter what's inside — useful when the same label design goes on jars with different-colored contents. If part of your design is meant to let the jar's own color peek through on purpose, note that in your order notes and we'll skip the underlay there.
Batching a candle or food label run
A single candle scent or jam flavor usually needs 100 to 150 to cover a batch with some left for restocking, while a shop running several flavors or scents at once often orders 300 to 500 across designs to keep the per-label cost down. Production takes about 2 business days after your free proof is approved, and free US shipping with tracking means a restock order can go out without extra shipping cost eating into a small-batch margin.
Questions people ask about these
Will the label survive being wiped down or handled with sticky fingers?
Yes. It's printed on waterproof vinyl with a protective overcoat, so wiping the jar or handling it with sticky hands from candle wax or jam won't smear the print or lift the edges.
Can these go on a jar that gets washed and reused?
The vinyl itself is dishwasher-safe, but the adhesive is permanent, so plan on the label staying on the jar through washes rather than coming off cleanly if you intend to reuse the jar without it.
What shape works best for a round candle jar?
A circle between 2.5 and 3.5 inches centers cleanly on most round candle jars without wrapping past the visible front panel. Send us the jar's diameter if it's unusual and we'll confirm the fit at the proof stage.
Will my ingredient list stay readable over dark jam or honey?
Yes — white ink prints under your text by default, which is exactly what keeps small ingredient text legible over a dark-colored jar's contents instead of blending into them.
Can I use the same design across different jar sizes?
Yes, upload one design and we can produce it at multiple custom sizes for your different jar sizes; just tell us each size you need in the order notes.
Do you print ready-made jar label designs?
No — we print the artwork you upload rather than offering a design catalog, and our designer checks your file for anything that won't cut cleanly as part of the free proof.
