How to get it right
Ladder racks, rivets and the panel that is left
Walk the truck with a tape measure before you pick a size. A ladder rack bolts to the roof or the bed, and its feet, brackets and straps are not smooth. A cargo van adds body ribs, door gaps and sometimes a row of rivets. A decal that crosses any of these has nothing flat to hold. What is left is your panel: on a van, usually the stretch behind the front door, plus one rear door, set clear of the gap; on a pickup, the door and the bed side below the rack. Press the decal onto clean, dry, smooth paint. A decal cannot be lifted and moved, so settle the spot before you peel the backing.
Yellow, navy and a license line
Yellow says electrical, and yellow on a white van nearly disappears. Put a yellow bolt or plug on a navy or black field, and let that field be the shape of the decal. Full color handles a gradient on a bulb or a spark as easily as a flat fill. Give the company name the biggest type and the phone number a line of its own. If your license number belongs on the truck, it goes in as a small line of your design. We print it as written and cannot check it, so what your state expects is yours to confirm. Skip a long service list. Two words, such as Residential and Commercial, say enough. On the drawing, the Try your logo button shows how the bolt and the name share the width.
Sides and rear, then every van in the shop
Three pieces cover one van: left side, right side and back. On a pickup, skip the rear piece and order two. The back can carry a quieter layout, with the logo and the number only. That is a second design, so it goes in as a second cart item and is proofed on its own. A shop with three vans types 9 for one shared design. When the fourth van arrives, send the same file again. A designer on our team cleans up your file and sets the cut line at no charge, but we do not draw a logo from a description. This is printed art cut to its outline. We do not cut letters from colored vinyl, and we do not make magnetic signs. A 20-inch piece is longer than 15 inches, so it rolls into a tube and arrives crease-free.
Questions people ask about these
How much does it cost to put decals on an electrician truck?
The calculator on this page prices your exact size and count, and you see the total before you pay. Nothing prints until you approve the free proof, and shipping within the US is free.
Can I put a decal on an electrician's bucket truck?
Yes, on a flat panel: a cab door or a smooth compartment door on the utility body. Skip the boom and the bucket, which are curved, and measure the panel you pick, because the drawing shows a van.
Can the decal show my electrical license number?
It can. A license line is just text in your design, so we print it as you write it. What your state expects on the truck is yours to check.
Where does the decal go on a van with a ladder rack?
On a flat panel, away from rack mounts, door gaps, body ribs and rivets. The side behind the front door is the usual spot, and a pickup takes it on the door or the bed side.
Do you sell stock lightning bolt decals or design logos?
No to both. We have no stock designs, templates or design tool, and we do not draw a logo from a description. A designer on our team cleans up the file you send and sets the cut line at no charge.
Can the back doors have a different decal from the sides?
Yes. Upload that design in its own cart item, and it gets a proof of its own.
