This page opens at 12 inches on the longer side: a sign big enough to read across a parking lot. A private seller with one car needs one or two; a small lot can put the same sign, with its own phone number, in five windows. It holds by static on the inside of the glass, printed mirrored so it reads correctly from outside, and leaves no adhesive behind. The free proof confirms the orientation and lets you check the phone number before anything prints.

How to get it right

What goes on a for sale sign, and what stays off

FOR SALE in large letters and a phone number are the two things that matter; everything else is small print. The wording is yours: the year and model, or a website that has photos. Each version is its own design with its own proof, and that includes the price. If you might lower it, leave the price off the sign and give it on the phone, or expect to order a new design when it changes. Check the phone number digit by digit on the proof, because nothing prints until you approve it and one wrong digit means calls that never reach you. Keep the text short; a window sign is read from a few steps away.

Inside the glass, readable from the street

The cling goes on the inside of a side or rear window, printed Mirror, which is the default, so the letters read correctly from outside and the film sits out of the wind and rain. The film is clear, and white ink goes under your design wherever it needs a solid background, so the sign stays readable against dark seats or a bright interior; the proof shows which. A 12-inch cling leaves room for letters two to three inches tall. Keep it out of the driver's line of sight and check your state's rules for windshield and rear-window placement. We make no promise about highway speeds or a hot, parked car, so this is a sign for a car that is standing still.

Sell the car, keep the sign

A cling has no glue, so when the car sells you peel the sign off whole and the glass needs nothing but its usual cleaning. Store it flat between two sheets of paper and it is ready for the next car, or for a friend's. A small lot gets the most from this: five identical signs move from car to car as each one sells, and the phone number never changes. If you want your lot's logo to stay on every car you sell, that is a permanent decal, covered on our dealership decals page. Keep the cling flat and unfolded between uses; a creased film will not sit smooth on the next window.

Questions people ask about these

Will the cling leave marks on the window when I take it off?

No. There is no adhesive on the film, so it peels off whole and leaves nothing behind.

Can I change the price later?

The price is part of the artwork, so a new price is a new design with a new proof. Many sellers leave the price off the sign and give it on the phone.

Is this the factory window sticker with the car's specs?

No. That label comes from the manufacturer or dealer. This is your own For Sale sign, and you can add details such as the year and mileage as text in your design.

Should I choose Mirror or Normal print?

Mirror, for a sign that goes on the inside of a car window and is read from outside. Normal is for pieces read from the same side, such as one on a mirror. The proof confirms the orientation either way.

Can I order just one?

Yes. Clings are available from a single piece, so change the quantity in the calculator to what you need.

How do I put it on so it lies flat?

Wipe the window clean and spray a fine film of plain water on it, not glass cleaner. Float the cling into place while the glass is wet, then smooth it from the middle outward with a card; it holds once the water under it dries.

Unfortunately I can only provide the lowest score as we did not receive the item or a refund. As I was buying on behalf of a charity this was even more disappointing.
