How to get it right
Behind the glass, out of the weather
Rain, wind, window cleaner and a squeegee all work on the street side of a window, and a decal stuck there meets every one of them. Put the decal on the room side and the glass takes that wear instead. You can wash the outside whenever you like without a thought for the artwork, and nobody walking past can lift an edge with a fingernail. The trade-off is intent: this decal is stuck, not clinging, so choose it for a mark that is staying, such as a logo or a shop name. Check what your lease allows before anything goes on the glass.
Size it for the sidewalk, not the desk
A mark that looks large on your screen shrinks fast on a storefront. Stand where a customer first notices the window, judge the size from there, then go up a step. Bold shapes read farthest: a wordmark in one or two colors, a simple symbol, a name with no more than one line of small print. Hairline strokes and thin script disappear with distance. Sizes run from 2 to 6 inches, and Other lets you type a size of your own. Because the print sits over white, light colors still show against whatever is behind the glass.
Decal or cling for the same window
Two of our products are made for the inside of a window. The decal you order here has adhesive and stays where you put it, which suits the shop name, the logo and hours that never change. An inside window cling has no adhesive: it holds by static, comes down and goes back up, and suits signs that follow the season. A simple test: if you might ever want to move it, choose the cling; if it is part of the storefront's identity, choose the decal. With the decal there is no Mirror setting to think about, because the mirroring is automatic and the proof shows it.
Questions people ask about these
Which side of the glass does an inside window decal go on?
The inside, the room side. The adhesive coats the printed side of the clear film, so that side presses against the glass and the design reads through it to people outside. A regular clear sticker, with adhesive on the back, is the one for outside surfaces.
Do I need to flip my artwork?
No. Send it as customers should see it from the street. We mirror it for you, and the proof shows exactly what will be printed before you approve anything.
What is the difference between a window decal and a window cling?
A decal has adhesive and stays put. A cling has none and holds by static, so you can move it and put it back. Pick the decal for a logo or name that stays; pick the cling for signs you change often.
What size logo works on a shop window?
Judge it from where customers first look at the window, not from arm's length. Door panes suit smaller marks and storefront glass wants bigger ones. Other lets you enter a size that fits your pane exactly.
How do I put it on?
Clean the glass and let it dry. Peel the backing and hold the sticker by its edges, since the adhesive is on the printed side. Line up one edge, lay the sticker down, then smooth it from the center out toward the edges.
When is it printed, and what does shipping cost?
A designer emails the free proof and changes are free. Printing takes place 2 business days after you approve it, and you pay only after approval. Standard USPS shipping is free, with faster options at checkout.
