How to get it right
A van someone can pick out in the dark
A customer locked out at night is watching the street for headlights, and needs to know that the van pulling up is the one they phoned. Set 24/7 as the largest element, the phone number next, and the company name beside them. A short list of what you do is plenty: auto, home, business. Contrast does the work after dark. A deep navy, charcoal or burgundy panel with cream and gold type is easy to read under a porch light. That is print contrast, not a reflective surface. A key or padlock mark can sit inside the panel, or the cut can trace the key's own shape. Judge the contrast on the free proof, from across the room.
The flat panel, the sliding door and the rear doors
The side of a cargo van is mostly flat, with a few places a decal should avoid. Stay off the sliding door's gap and track, the handle, any rib, and any crease running through the panel. The panel behind the front door is often the largest clear area, and the drawing on this page shows one. Double rear doors meet at a center seam, so one decal across both would span the gap, and a gap is not a smooth surface. Give each rear door its own smaller piece instead. A side step, a vent or a roof light changes where the clear panel is, so measure with those in place. Wipe the surface and wait until it is fully dry before you press down. The adhesive is permanent.
One van, a second van, a phone line for each
One van takes two pieces, one per side, from a single file. A second van with the same look brings it to 4. Suppose one van answers auto lockouts on one phone line and another handles commercial work on a different line. Those are two designs, so each gets its own cart line, its own upload and its own proof. Rear doors, if you want them lettered, are one more line with a smaller design. We cannot draw your logo from a description, so bring a file. A designer will clean up your artwork and set the cut line for free, and you get a proof to approve before anything prints. Questions people ask about these
Are these decals or a van wrap?
Decals. Each is one printed piece in full color, die cut to your design and pressed onto a flat panel. We print no wraps, and putting the decal on is left to you or a shop.
Will a locksmith decal show up at night?
It can be easy to read if you design for contrast, such as a dark panel with cream and gold type. There is no reflective film in what we make, so the decal will not glow in headlights.
Do you make magnetic locksmith signs?
No. Magnetic signs are not on our product list. Because a decal is permanent, it fits a van that will stay yours; a sign that has to move between vehicles is a different product.
What size locksmith decal fits a van?
This page opens at 32 x 16 inches for each side. Your own panel decides the real size, so measure it and enter its exact width and height; no single piece can go past 48 x 80 inches.
Can I add a license number to the decal?
Yes, it can be one more line of text in your artwork. If your state or city asks for one on the vehicle, check its rules for how it must look. We print the file exactly as sent, and reviewing it against those rules is up to you.
Do you have locksmith key designs to choose from?
No. We have no ready-made key designs and no design tool, so you bring your own artwork. Cleaning up the file and setting the cut line are done for you by our designer, free of charge.
