How to get it right
Overspray, drips and a smooth panel
A painter's van collects the same mess as a job site: dried drips, overspray, a speck of primer on the sliding door. Adhesive needs a smooth surface, and a speck you can feel with a fingertip is not smooth. Run a clean hand over the spot where the decal will go. Take off what you find, then wash, rinse and dry the panel completely before the backing comes off. Pick the flat stretch behind the front door or on the sliding door, away from handles, door gaps and wheel arches. You already own the best tool for the mock-up. Run painter's tape around a 28 x 14 rectangle and step back to the curb. The adhesive is permanent, so settle the position while it is still tape.
Brand colors on a white van
Your logo is the color swatch customers see before they meet you. It prints in full color, gradients included, and the free proof shows your colors side by side and where the cut line falls. Check the colors there. Changes cost nothing at that stage, and printing waits for your approval. On a white van, a decal cut to the outline of the logo shows little extra around it, because the vinyl is white too. On a dark van, a light rounded rectangle carries the lettering. Keep to the company name, one line about the work, such as interior and exterior, and one way to reach you. It is all one printed piece, die cut to your logo, with no individual letters, no magnet and no wrap. Sign shops call a piece like this a spot graphic.
One design for every van in the crew
Two pieces cover one van, one for each side, and both print from the same file. A crew with three vans enters 6 as the count, and that is still one design with one proof. Add a van later with the file you already have. The back doors need less: the logo and the phone number are enough. That is a second design, so it goes in as another cart item with its own file and proof, and a different size is another item too. Send PNG, JPEG, PDF, AI or SVG files. Who puts the decal on the van?
You do, or a local shop you hire. We print the decal and mail it; we do not install it.

Can every crew van carry the same decal?
