Upload the original file, not a screenshot
Send the original photo file straight from your phone or camera, not a screenshot and not a copy downloaded from social media - each of those re-saves the image at a lower quality than the original. A phone photo prints well as long as it is in focus and not heavily cropped or zoomed digitally before the shot. Square keeps the whole photo, borderless, the way it looks in your camera roll. Rounded softens the same rectangle if you want the corners gone. A custom die-cut drops the background and follows the outline of the subject instead - a person, a pet, a product shape - which works most cleanly when that subject stands out clearly from what is behind it. Which photo file should I upload?
The original file, at full size, rather than a screenshot or a copy saved from a text message or social media - those compress the image and soften detail. If you only have a printed photo, a flat, well-lit scan works too.
Will a photo taken on a phone look good printed?
Usually, yes. Most modern phone cameras capture more than enough detail for a 3 inch sticker. What hurts quality is not the phone itself but sending a screenshot, a heavily cropped image, or a photo already compressed by an app.
Should I pick square or a cut-out around the subject?
