How to get it right
Why a holiday display should be the one thing you do not reprint
Christmas print has a short life and a long repeat: four weeks up, eleven months in a drawer, then up again. Anything adhesive fails that cycle - it has to be scraped off in January and bought again in November. Static cling is built the other way round. It peels off in one piece, stores flat, and goes back on clean glass a year later, which means the display is a one-off cost rather than an annual one.
Ordering in time for December
Production is two business days after you approve the free proof, and free US shipping takes 3-5 business days in transit, so the physical timeline is short. What is not short is the artwork: a holiday design usually goes through a round of changes, and every change means a new proof. Working backward from the day you want the display up, allow a week for the print and post and a week of slack for the artwork, and order in the first half of November at the latest for a display that opens with the season.
Clear film or white film for a holiday window
Clear film lets the shop and the lights inside show through the design, which is what you want for decorative work like frosted-looking patterns or an outline motif. White film has a solid backing and stays readable with daylight behind it, which is what you want when the cling carries words - opening hours over the holidays, a last-order date, a greeting a passer-by has to read. Most shops end up ordering one of each rather than choosing.
Questions people ask about these
Can I print my own Christmas design rather than choose from a set?
Yes - that is all we print. Upload your own artwork and it is printed at the size you pick, on clear or white film, as a rectangle, a circle or a die cut following the outline of the design.
Will the cling survive being stored until next Christmas?
Yes, if it is stored flat between two sheets of paper and kept out of direct sun. Rolling it or folding it is what damages the film, not time.
When do I need to order for December?
Production takes two business days after proof approval and shipping 3-5 business days, so the print itself is quick. Allow extra for artwork changes, since each change needs a new proof - ordering in the first half of November is comfortable for a display that opens with the season.
Can it go on the outside of the window?
It is made for the inside of the glass. Outdoors it holds only on shaded or protected surfaces, and winter weather on a fully exposed window will lift the edges. For outside-facing glass, vinyl stickers are the right product.
How big should a holiday window display be?
A door panel works at 18"; a main shop window usually wants 24" to 36"; sizes run to 48" on the longer side. A large display is often better as two or three separate clings than one big one, because they are easier to place straight and easier to store.
Does it leave anything on the glass in January?
Nothing at all. There is no adhesive on the film, so it comes away in one piece and the window needs no cleaning beyond the usual.
