How to get it right
Shell, vents and seams decide the shape
A helmet has very little genuinely flat area. The side panel behind the visor pivot is the largest, and it is usually good for about three inches before a vent or an edge interrupts it. Cutting to an outline rather than a square is what lets a mark fit between those interruptions, and stripes work better than blocks because they follow the curve instead of fighting it. Curved surfaces also want smaller pieces: two 2" marks sit better than one 4".
What we say about safety, which is nothing
We make no claim about how a sticker interacts with a helmet - not about the shell, not about any rating, not about adhesives and the materials underneath. Helmet manufacturers publish their own guidance on what may be applied to their product, and that guidance, not ours, is the one to follow. This page is about printing a graphic; the helmet itself is theirs to speak about.
Taking it off again
Riders change numbers, clubs and sponsors, so removal is a fair question. Our adhesive is permanent by design: it lifts with gentle heat from a hair dryer and patience, and leaves residue that comes off with isopropyl alcohol. We do not sell a removable version. If a graphic will change every season, plan on a cleanup each time rather than expecting a clean peel.
Questions people ask about these
Will a sticker stay on at speed and in the rain?
On a clean, dry, smooth part of the shell, pressed down over its whole area, yes - this is laminated waterproof vinyl and wind and rain are not what defeats it. Edges lifted by a vent lip or a seam are what come away first, which is why shape and placement matter more than material here.
Is this approved or certified for helmets?
No, and we make no claim of that kind. Check what your helmet manufacturer says about applying anything to their shell before you order.
What size fits on a motorcycle helmet?
Three inches on the side panel is the common answer. On a curved or vented shell, two smaller pieces usually sit flatter than one large one.
Can you cut a number or a stripe to shape?
Yes. Die cut follows your outline at no extra cost, so a number, a stripe or a club badge arrives as its own shape rather than sitting on a visible square.
Will it damage the paint when I take it off?
Removing any permanent adhesive from a painted or clear-coated surface carries some risk, and helmet finishes vary. Gentle heat and a slow lift give the best chance, and isopropyl alcohol removes residue. If the finish matters to you, test on a hidden area first.
What is the smallest order?
Ten per design is the online minimum. For one rider that is a set with spares, which is usually what you want - numbers and club marks get replaced more often than the helmet does. Price per sticker falls as the quantity rises, which is what makes a club order worth grouping into one run.
Will I see a proof before I pay?
Yes, for most files. Upload your design and the proof appears on screen in seconds, with the cut line, at the size and shape you chose - before you pay. If a file needs a designer's eye, we email the proof instead, and changes are free until it is right. Nothing prints until you approve it.
